Travis Touchdown is an otaku throughout. From his anime posters and use of the word “moe” to his love of sushi, No more heroes 3 does not try to hide the fact that Japanese culture is central to the experience. At the same time, logic is not something that the series necessarily follows very strictly. Even the game’s basic premise is out of the question, but the side quests follow the line of realism to make for an enjoyable game. The justification for Travis’s reason to go around collecting live scorpions, for instance, doesn’t require a profound motivating factor.
Bugjirou, owner of a ramen shop in Santa Destroy in No more heroes 3, is Travis’s favorite ramen. However, he is able to create what he describes as the ultimate bowl of ramen with some exceptional ingredients. If Travis can track down all 20 scorpions, he can use them to make Scorpion Death Ramen. There’s no way Travis could turn down such an offer, so we scoured all of Santa Destroy and more to locate all 20 scorpions hidden within No more heroes 3.
Bugjirou’s ramen shop is conveniently located across the street from Travis’s motel No more heroes 3. It will be marked with a green star icon on your map. After reaching chapter 2, talk to him to learn about the ultimate bowl of ramen and start the Scorpion Death Ramen side quest for details. Make sure you stop after collecting scorpions to redeem them for rewards as you go, not just at the end.
Also, like the other collect-based side quests in No more heroes 3, getting and equipping 80 Chips for your Gauntlet of Death will make things much easier. This chip generates an alarm and vibrates the controller when any searchable object is nearby, including scorpions.
Your original Santa Destroy Center has six of our scorpions moving around.
The first scorpion on our list is located just north of the Map Trash side quest. Head up and into a small courtyard next to the building at the edge of the field where this creature patrols.
The next scorpion is where you might expect to find one in real life: the beach. Walk along the shore halfway down your fellow human and keep your eyes and ears open for this scorpion roaming the sand.
This third scorpion is located at the southeast end of the map, right next to the toilet mini-game, and south of the defense mission in the nearby park area. It will be in the void with the statue of the globe surrounded by fences.
Number four is the way up north, past the highest defense mission icon on your map. Dive along where the road curves at the extreme northwest point and turn around. There’s a brick building in the corner next to a clearing this guy has claimed to be his home.
The fifth scorpion is not too far south from the previous one. Go to the stadium, and round down to the south parking lot. Go between the cones next to the blue storage bin to grab this guy.
The last stop in the Santa Destroy area is at the southern end of the map, at the bottom of the two beige lots on the map. Look near the north corner of this large, open field for a scorpion circling around some tall grass.
The next six scorpions have taken up residence in the Perfect World section of the map.
You will encounter the first road along the south coast, right in the middle of the long stretch. Look for the brick gate on the east side of the street, where this little guy is working as a security guard.
The second place on the list is at the extreme southwest of Perfect World. Just drive down until the road ends with a dead end, and you’ll see him circling in the middle of the circle.
This next address is very close to DonMai sushi shop near the middle of the map. It’s next to a fountain south from the save point and west of the sushi bar, near the benches.
From the previous scorpion, go straight to the northwest point of the map, all the way to where the map meets the ocean. It rotates near abandoned scaffolding and garbage lying on the ground.
Look at the Defense Mission icon further northeast, go to the parking lot with the mission indicator and go to the opposite side with the active role. Scorpions hang around in empty places.
Now at the southwest point of the map, again where the map makes contact with the ocean, is a pier filled with containers. Go through the crates to where you can see the water, and pick up this little guy while you’re there.
Only four scorpions have made it to the Thunderdome, so grab them.
Starting north and going down, the first one goes up to the dome area on the street. When you’re approaching the main door, right next to the toilet save point, this scorpion is on the right side of the road, near the stops that prevent you from going any further east.
On the sandy strip in front of the Thunderdome, to the northwest, is a small path leading to the beach. Just before that, to the northwest of the Defense Mission and east of the Coast Guard Mission, was this scorpion’s roaming zone.
This time almost directly east from the Defense Mission, the next creature was just a little northeast of the DonMai Sushi stand, wobbling in the sand.
The last leg is to go south, close to where you first landed in Thunderdome. Turn right immediately, go east and look directly below the pickaxe icon for the WESN Mining Volunteer mission. It hangs around in this empty land.
The last four scorpions await in Call of Battle.
Our first scorpion is waiting on the east side of the map. Go all the way down to the Alien T-shirt icon on the map and look a little east of it, but not far from the save point. It blends into the rocks along the coast.
From there, follow the northeastern wall until you’re lined up south of the Trashman quest icon, but still at the top edge of the beach. This scorpion is on a slightly raised ground with some light grass on it.
Now hit the road. Take the street that goes farthest south, curving slightly east at the sea-facing end. At the dead end, hop off your bike and catch this cold scorpion on the sidewalk.
Last but not least, get off the road where you found the last scorpion and onto the beach. Head straight south to the coast, and then just a little west. You can see it looking West from the Designated Battle point on the beach.
Each of the 20 scorpions you collect will grant you some Uc, WESN, and some rare materials. Here’s what you get for each scorpion you join based on their color:
Yellow: 800 Uc, 800 WESN, and an alligator scale.
Rainbow: 100 Uc, 900 WESN, a brown bear gall bladder, and a large CS shirt.
Silver: 500 Uc, 600 WESN and a chicken feather.
Black: 100 Uc, 200 WESN and a coconut.
Tropic: 300 Uc, 500 WESN, and a snakeskin peeled.
Finally, when you collect each scorpion, you will receive 3,000 Uc, 1,000 WESN, a taxidermy Chupacabra and a Never Quit CS shirt.
