EA didn’t show up at this year’s E3, but that hasn’t stopped the company from hosting its own event. EA Play Live is basically an E3-style press conference with lots of news about EA’s biggest titles. Much of the program is predictable. We know we’ll see Apex Legends‘latest heroes and news about Battlefield 2042The new Portal mode was leaked a few hours before the show. Plus, EA prepared us for what won’t show up in the rollout, including Ice skating 4.
However, there are a few surprises. Grid Legends is a brand new racing game from Codemasters that has a deep story mode and Dead Space is back with a new game. Here’s every announcement from EA’s big summer stream.
Dead Space’s revival is real
As previously rumored, a new Dead Space game is coming. The new game is currently title only Dead space, and we don’t see much of it. A small teaser trailer confirmed that the game exists, but that’s about it. No release date has been given, but a press release from EA has revealed more details about the game. It is a remake of the original Dead space game and it is being developed specifically for the next generation console. It will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
EA has given a closer look at Battlefield 2042, revealing an exciting new side of the multiplayer shooter. Battlefield Portal is a massive customization tool that allows players to create custom games. The web-based tool is free to anyone with an EA account, even if they don’t own the game. This tool goes beyond the usual custom rule setting in the game, giving players the freedom to make super specific decisions.
More interestingly, this mode is bringing in classic Battlefield games 2042. The portal features content from classic games like Battlefield 1942, including weapons and vehicles. As part of that, Ripple Effect will bring six classic Battlefield maps into the game. Players can set up 128-player matches on old maps, which have been tweaked for 2042.
