When Apex Legends‘latest season, Saviors, drops on May 10, it will bring some big changes to the battle royale game. Remarkable. The game’s Storm Point map is getting a drastic makeover thanks to a new activity and a giant crustacean monster that died in the middle of the battlefield.
Apex Legends: Saviors is the 13th season of the shooter and it continues its story in some innovative ways. Not only does it add an intriguing Newcastle character, but it also opens up the lore of the game even further by introducing the monster, which has some history with the game’s heroes.
Prior to Saviors begins, it seems the giant monster rose from the sea and started attacking Storm Point. Heroes have successfully fought it, but how exactly do you move a monster carcass after its corpse? Obviously, the solution is simply to work around that, as the dead kaiju becomes a new point of interest (POI) on the map in Saviors. That increases the POI of the map from 17 to 18, as players can fight around and seemingly inside it.
While it’s the most visible change, Saviors also adds a whole new activity on the map. IMC Armories are now live on the map, and when players interact with them, they’ll enter a 60-second battle PVE minigame. No third parties can interfere while the arsenal is active, so teams or solo players can try the operation without fear of getting killed. Completing this activity will reward the player with valuable loot.
The feature is currently only available at Storm Point, but Respawn Entertainment says it could be added to other maps depending on player response. As for the map rotation, this season’s trilogy playlist will rotate between Storm Point, Olympus, and World’s Edge.
Apex Legends: Saviors starting May 10 on all supported platforms.
