Back to 4 health held a short rollout today highlighting the new feature with its newest game mode, called Swarm. While the rollout was only about 10 minutes long, it gave us extensive insight into what we can expect with this new game mode.
Swarm is a player-versus-player mode that pits two teams of four against each other in a match between the Cleaner and the Killer. The game mode is one of the best three with teams switching roles of Cleaner and Escaper after each round. The main goal of the Cleaners, the human faction, is to gather as many resources as possible before trying to survive in one location on the map and try to stay alive for as long as possible.
On the other hand, the goal of the Ridden, the parasitic entities, is to try to kill the Cleaners as quickly as possible. The team that wins two of the three rounds is declared the winner of the match.
The Cleaners are pretty straightforward in their character selection. They are people with different personalities and weapons. On the other hand, The Ridden is a bit different. Technically, they have nine playable classes. There are three main classes with three different variations. For example, the largest Ridden is subdivided into Reeker, Retch, and Exploder. Reeker moves fast and attacks Cleaners with quick melee attacks, Retch has a ranged vomiting ability that can slow opponents down, and Exploders have a coveted ability that allows them to go to Cleaners and complete names their by exploding .
Both sides of the game mode can customize their weapons and attacks. The Cleaners get a basic range like pistols, shotguns, and automatic weapons. Throughout the level, there are upgrades that Cleaners can find so that players can customize the arsenal to their liking. The same goes for the Ridden and their abilities and attacks.
Back to 4 health will release on October 12 of this year, and open beta begins on August 5. The game will be available on Xbox Game Pass on launch day.
