Larian Studios announced that features like character backgrounds and enemy disarming are coming soon Baldur’s Gate 3 through a new patch. The studio announced the update via an unorthodox live stream, revealing all the new content with a live role-playing session featuring crawling scenes in an escape room dungeon.
One of the key features included in Patch 5 is Active Rolls. When players are required to take a skill test, they can now ask their team to strengthen their reels using their spells. Players will no longer need to spam the Guide before every potential conversation. Wallpaper is also included in Patch 5, which opens up mini quests for players depending on the background they choose. Performing actions that match these backgrounds will reward players with inspired or more experienced dice.
Larian Studios is also listening carefully to the community and has fixed the non-lethal attacks, as well as split jumps and flight action in combat. These fixes are two of the main concerns of early access players.
All this news has been brought to the viewers through Console from hell live streaming that Larian Studios hosts to keep players updated on the game’s progress. However, the studio did something a little different and featured a live-action role-playing session aka LARP, with people playing characters navigating through a dungeon full of puzzles. The actions that players take were voted on by live stream viewers via chat. This is definitely a great change of pace, especially compared to the more serious conferences that have filled E3 this year.
Baldur’s Gate 3 no release date yet. The developers say they want to spend as much time as they need to make the game they want. Patch 5 for Baldur’s Gate 3 will be available for download on July 13.
