When Nintendo released the first trailer for Breath of the Wild 2 Several years ago, it created a whirlwind of rumors and speculation. When the dust began to settle, some things were clarified – but much of it remained in the air. Nintendo has a reputation for scarcity of information about first-party titles, and that holds true for this much-anticipated sequel.

That said, we actually know quite a lot about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. Nintendo gave us a glimpse into Hyrule’s world, and eagle-eyed viewers have been able to put together a lot of the clues seen in the announcement trailer. Plus, we heard a few things directly from legendary game designer Eiji Aonuma who just added fuel to the fire. From playable characters and enemies back to the release date and plot, here’s everything we know – and don’t know – about the upcoming sequel of The breath of the wild.

Release date

Sadly, there is no confirmed release date for Breath of the Wild 2. Many had speculated that it could launch around the holiday season of 2020, but that never happened. In terms of the current pandemic, development and shipping of the game – at least the physical versions – has slowed significantly, meaning release date could be postponed. The latest Nintendo Direct isn’t there either Breath of the Wild 2 information, just said more information will be announced later this year.

In all likelihood, the sequel won’t see the light of day until the second half of 2021. The first part The breath of the wild debuted during E3 2014 and not until 2017. Breath of the Wild 2 wasn’t teased long ago – Nintendo announced at E3 2019 – and even then, Nintendo claims it’s just in development. If the previous schedule is any indication, we still have a bit of a wait ahead. Some people also think the game is being staged when a Switch Pro is rumored, or whatever they name a more powerful, hypothetical version of the Switch, coming out. Considering we haven’t heard anything yet about this, we are keeping excited for now.

Communication

The game is rumored to be available only on the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo is not interested in moving high-performance first-party titles to other consoles and we don’t expect that trend to change as Breath of the Wild 2 is finally released.

Intro

Nintendo has just released a trailer for Breath of the Wild 2 – and it’s just a trailer that reveals the announcement of the upcoming game’s development. You can glean a little bit of information from the footage, but don’t expect to see any games or major revelations.

Gameplay

While the release date is airing, we’re pretty confident that players will return to the Hyrule seen in the original. The breath of the wild. One thing everyone realized from the trailer is the fact that the entry looks much more like a dark adventure than its predecessor. Aonuma went on to confirm this, saying that the entry would be similar Legend of Zelda: Majora’s mask In tune – easily the darkest and most disturbing game in the series. Exactly how that will play out is unknown, however, it has been confirmed that it will be Not Tied on Majora’s mask by anyway. It will likely have a similar aesthetic, but that doesn’t mean any story elements from the popular Nintendo 64 title will show up.

While the DLC works for adding minor changes to the game – it basically works as an expansion – you’re often limited to the title’s existing structure. Aonuma said that the team had some big changes they wanted to make, but they did can’t do this using DLC. As time passed and more ideas began to emerge, it became clear that a new game was the only way to make these things happen.

Immediately after the trailer was revealed at E3 2019, the internet exploded with rumors and speculation. Not all of those are trustworthy, but we’ve compiled a shortlist of the most realistic things to be trusted. Nintendo has not in any way commented on the following claims, so it’s possible that some of these great ideas could turn it into an end product:

• The E3 trailer shows Link and Zelda exploring some sort of underground room, but Zelda looks completely different from what we remember. Her hair has been cut short to a bob, and fans are speculating that it is because she will be a playable character. Shorter hair has less chance of getting caught in other objects and makes it easy to create a clean look without any cumbersome animations. We’re not sure what this would be like – but we can’t deny it would be great to run around Hyrule as someone other than Link.
• Watching Link and Zelda together in the trailer gave some fans the impression that this could be a co-op title. Aonuma was asked about this possibility and did not give a direct answer. While it might not be the game’s dynamics, we hope that you’ll be able to team up with a friend around this time.
• Some cave paintings seem to be related to the time prior to the disaster. Does this mean the title could be a prequel to the original?
• Traditional dungeons can go back. Since players are already familiar with Hyrule’s map, that means new locations will have to be underground or indoors.
• Ganondorf is the most likely villain, as he matches the appearance of a reclining corpse in the trailer. Some people also speculate that Zant, one of the fighters Legend of Zelda: Twilight PrincessHowever, it is possible to generate profits, but there is not much evidence to support this claim.

Multiplayer

The game is rumored to include co-op – but that’s only because fans saw Link and Zelda explore together in the trailer. Nothing is official yet, though the co-op offering will be a big change compared to the original Breath of the Wild.

DLC

No DLC plans are confirmed, but it’s very likely that Nintendo will offer some form of support after its release. If we’re using Breath of the Wild as a base, expect to see more DLC packs released in the months after Breath of the Wild 2 arrives.

Pre order

Since the game has yet to receive an official release date – or even the official name from Nintendo – pre-orders are not yet available for the upcoming game.
