Some details about Death Stranding: Director’s Cut was revealed at Gamescom. A new trailer showcased some of the features of the PlayStation 5 upgrade, including online leaderboards, new mobile options, and more.
Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is an update to Hideo Kojima’s forked PS4 game, with new mechanical changes that primarily revolve around combat. The game has a September 24 release date during Sony’s July State of Play event.
One of the biggest new features of Director cut Buddy Bot. This delivery partner will assist players in delivering packages by delivering them to their destination or simply holding an extra load while following Sam. Additional delivery aids are also available, including pushers and cargo catapults.
Jumping ramps also appear in the upgrade, giving players more movement options. These ramps amplify the motorcycle’s jumping ability and allow players to jump over great distances. Players can perform bike tricks while in the air.
Other footage shown during this reveal included a new Maser gun, capable of stunning enemies. There’s also a brand new online rating system regarding the upgrade’s firing range and racing mode.
Director cut bring more action to Death Stranding experience. Not only can players review boss battles from their own rooms, but they also have access to new “action-packed” delivery missions.
At the end of the trailer, a trailer was shown, which could be a talk about a new boss or an impending story experience Death Stranding. Sam appears looking out a door before a giant creature emerges from the shadows to ambush him.
