New paid DLC for Animal Crossing: New Horizons giving players the chance to design lodges for the game’s many different villagers announced today Mule Nintendo Direct. DLC, titled Happy Home Paradise, will be out on November 5, along with 2.0 update of the game, and the player will lose $25.
Happy Home Paradise will also be available as part of Nintendo’s recently revealed Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, along with access to Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis titles.
In the expansion, players assist a resort developer called Paradise Planning by designing holiday homes to suit the needs of the villagers. Customization is king when it comes to motel design, with players being able to change nearly every aspect of the house and the plots they’re on. Players can manually change the size of the houses and erect partition walls or pillars to divide the space. Outside, players can change the house’s position, its design, and edit the surrounding area with a new top-down editor.
Along with the lodge, players will be able to redesign various facilities throughout the DLC’s archipelago. Whether they create a restaurant, hospital or school, the villagers will occupy and use each facility.
Once players have successfully designed a vacation home, they will receive payment in the form of Poki, a new currency. While it can only be used on islands, Poki can be used to purchase rare items and other cosmetics, which can then be brought back to the player’s main islands.
New design techniques that players use in lodges can also be applied to houses on the main island, drastically evolving the ways players’ homes can be customized. And for the players who are tired of visiting the ugly houses of the villagers, once enough guesthouses have been designed, the villagers can ask the player to redecorate their houses.
