It’s one thing to wipe out enemies with a single shot Fate 2: Sorceress Queen. Doing so with their own exploding larvae is another matter entirely. That’s the joy of Parasite, a powerful strange grenade launcher that can weaponize larvae in a hilariously creepy way. This is a weapon that no self-respecting guardian would want to do without. We’ll show you how to get one of your own in this step-by-step guide to unlocking Parasite in Fate 2.
First, you need to complete the main Witch Queen campaign. Once it’s over, visit Ikora Rey at the Enclave. She will give you the quest “Of Queens and Worms.” Next, talk to Mara Sov. She’s hanging out near Artifact in the Enclave. Approach the dying worm and she will begin which will give you your first mission: complete the attack on the Birthplace of the Evil.
Complete the attack, but don’t leave immediately after killing the boss. There is a hidden room at the back of the room, revealed by activating your Deepsight ability. Inside is the altar, put the worm on it.
Go to the Swamp in Savathun’s Throneworld, and visit the Fynch. He will ask you to locate a Cryptoglyph. Follow the marker on your map to the Temple of Cunning (it’s a long walk), and wipe out the enemies at the marked location to get the Cryptoglyph.
Cryptoglyph needs to charge, and in true honeycomb fashion, that means violence. In this case, it is necessary to kill 100 words of contempt. Can be easily found in the Swamp, especially during public events.
After the Cryptoglyph is charged, you need to find more changes, located in the lost areas of the World of Throne. First, visit the lost section of the Sepulcher in the Florescent Canal. When you finish the lost area, activate Deepsight to find a hidden room with a replacement.
Next, complete the Florescent Canal patrol. Anything will do, although “kill” patrols tend to be the fastest.
Time to collect another Cryptoglyph, this time in the Queen’s Lawn. Just like the last Cryptoglyph, you’ll need to follow your target marker to a distant point on the map and wipe out a few waves of enemies.
Take the Cryptoglyph to the lost area of Metamorphosis, found in the Miasma area of Savathun’s Throne World. Delete the lost area, activate Deepsight and locate the hidden room with the replacement.
The last Cryptoglyph is in the Curtain of Seduction. Clear the enemies at the end as usual, but you won’t get the Cryptoglph right away. Enable Deepsight and some background will appear. Three of them had torches on their heads. Shoot torches to light them, and a chest will appear. Open the chest to get the Cryptoglyph.
Extraction, located in the quagmire, is the last Lost Sector you need. You know what to do already. Clear enemies, kill bosses, and use Deepsight to locate hidden rooms with Alter.
Return to Fynch, and he will give you the Hive Cover. It’s basically a placeholder in your heavy weapon slot, so you may need to make room before you can get it out of the Fynch. Once you have Hive Casing, head to the Florescent Canal and launch the newly added Parasite Pilgrimage quest.
The prologue to Parasite Pilgrimage is essentially a puzzle of agility. Worms are dying, and you need to run through a series of glowing pools before time runs out. Avoid the deadly traps around the pool, and don’t mind killing multiple enemies, as they proliferate endlessly.
Eventually you’ll reach Mara Sov, and she’ll issue you the weird Parasite grenade launcher. You will need it to protect her while she completes a ritual. Wave after wave of enemies will appear. Look for areas of bright light to recharge with Parasite, and launch those larvae recklessly. Eventually the Mara will complete the ritual, and the Parasite will be yours to keep.
