Fate 2 Bungie developer posted a occupation list on its website for a senior executive to grow in TV, film and media. The company seems to be looking to bring Destiny to mediums other than video games. The occupation list suggests that we could get movies, TV shows and maybe even graphic novels set in the Destiny universe.
The post details what the placement will do for the Destiny company and brand: “As the storyteller and ‘guardian’ of Destiny IP, you will define, select, guide, collaborate, and deliver provide feedback to third parties and partners, allowing them to tell more myths in the Destiny universe to delight our fans while capturing the hearts and minds of new audiences .”
“Third parties and partners” is the interesting part of this post, showing that Bungie doesn’t want to create Destiny content with different vehicles in-house. Instead, it wants to work with third parties and partners specializing in television, film, etc.
This isn’t the first time Destiny has branched out into different mediums, as it has tried comics and graphic novels to expand the storytelling in its universe. NS Cayde’s Six You can still read the manga on the official Destiny site and Comic Collection: Volume One are still available for purchase at book retailers. NS Grimoire Collection: I – IV also filled with lore, artwork, and stories not covered in the game series. With Bungie looking to fill this new slot, fans of the series can look forward to seeing more Destiny content outside of the game in the not-too-distant future.
