Emerging from the crowded E3 rollout of Microsoft and Bethesda, Square Enix went live with its own announcement-filled live stream. Like the recent Square Enix Presents series presentation, it’s a 40-minute show that focuses on a handful of upcoming titles.
More news was expected, as Square Enix shared the itinerary before. A large portion of the stream is dedicated to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, a new single-player game from Eidos. Life is Strange: True Colors and The Fall of Babylon is also an important part of the program. Just one surprise, even though it was leaked before: Origin of Final Fantasy. Here are the full details of the cool E3 rollout.
Final Fantasy Origin is a new soul like the Soul from Team Ninja
As rumored before the event, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is a new game from developer Team Ninja. It’s a “Like Souls” title that puts a lot of emphasis on hack-and-slash action against giant enemies. The game will launch around 2022 and will soon have a demo on PlayStation 5.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy takes the stage
Square Enix is publishing another game based on Marvel’s superheroes, but it’s much different from Marvel’s Avengers. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a single-player action-adventure game where the player controls Star-Lord. Like Mass Effect, it has branching dialogue options and a feature that allows players to give commands to their teammates. The game is developed by Eidos-Montreal, the team behind the Deus Ex franchise.
The game will not have any post-launch content such as DLC and is not a direct-serve game. It’s a complete single player experience. It will launch on October 26 for PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Babylon’s Fall Shows NieR-esque Action
Babylon’s Fall attracted great attention at the show. The action title is PlatinumGames’ latest game… and it shows. The action looks similar to the studio hit NieR: Automata. In fact, the stream features an interview with the game’s developer, who explicitly mentioned the game.
The game is a live service title that will be constantly updated.
One segment of the stream focuses on the Life is Strange series. First, we have a new trailer for the Life is Strange Remastered Collection.
Life is Strange: True Colors get most of the attention. Developers explained how empathic power works in the game. Alex can see colorful halos around characters, which allows her to delve into their thoughts. If Alex creates a strong aura, she can create an aura, allowing her to experience the physical version of the character’s psyche.
Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster updates six games
The first six games in the Final Fantasy series are being remade. Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster highlight every game in the series so far Final Fantasy VI. It will be coming to Steam and mobile platforms soon. It’s a somewhat vague announcement that leaves some questions about what’s updated in the new releases.
Marvel’s Avengers: War for Wakanda has a new trailer
Square Enix has come up with a Take a closer look at what’s to come Marvel’s Avengers DLC. War for Wakanda brings to the game Black Panther in a new storyline that takes place in Wakanda. The update will be free, although it doesn’t have a release date yet.
