With the beginning of Fortnite Chapter 2, season 7, the ever-evolving battle royale has had some major changes. This time, it’s alien themed and features new weapons, map changes and of course, a new battle. Along with that, there are many new cosmetic skins to unlock, like Superman and even Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty. But most of all, the new attraction is the invading aliens Fortnite, and your mission is to fight back with the help of Doctor Slone. New and returning characters from Fortnite will also appear throughout the season.
Below, we’ll detail all of the new changes with chapter 2, season 7, including new weapons, battle passes, map changes, and more. Here’s everything you need to know about Fortnite chapter 2, season 7.
With the new alien theme, you’ll notice a lot of changes, including more lore and the introduction of a new character named Doctor Slone. This character is part of the Imagined Order (IO) and will prioritize saving the planet from an alien invasion. You will need to work with Slone and IO to maintain the world of Fortnite safe.
One of the most striking changes is the presence of flying saucers, which can be shot down or robbed. If you board one, you can use it to fly around the map to take down opponents or simply escape a deadly storm. The discs have guns attached to them and can be used to defeat other players. You can even use discs to get vehicles and build supplies, which is a nifty new feature. This also means that the plates are likely to be very sought after, though, so you’ll need to get one quickly.
Another notable change comes with the ability to customize your own aliens, thanks to the new Kymera skin. Fortnite has implemented customization options before, but this is the deepest it has ever been, allowing you to change your head, eyes, skin color, skin pattern, armor, etc. To use these functions, you Battle cards need to be purchased (more info below). Once you’ve received the battle pass, you’ll have access to the Kymera skin. You will then need to spend the Alien Artifact, which acts as a currency, to buy each piece.
For example, the Webbed Head model costs two Alien Artifacts, while the Reticle Head costs three. This currency works very similarly to the Gold Bars from previous seasons and can be obtained as you play. You can find them all over the island, or from the Cosmic Chests, also scattered around the world.
Of course, every season of Fortnite comes with a new weapon, and this weapon is no exception. With the help of IO, you’ll have a whole new range of guns at your disposal. These include the new Rail Gun, which can be used to shoot through surfaces; Flexible pulse rifle, for longer ranged engagements; and even the Recon Scanner, a device created to survey the world around you. All of these weapons come to you from Doctor Slone and can be collected across the map.
However, the aliens have their own technology and have developed a Kymera Ray Gun, which you can expect to use throughout the season. Epic Games also revealed that more weapons will be added “as the season progresses.”
The other notable thing about the new season 7 gadgets is the updated crafting materials. In this season, you will use nuts and bolts to turn ordinary weapons into stronger counterweights. For example, a regular assault rifle can be made into an explosive rifle, while an SMG can be upgraded to a fast-firing SMG. Each base weapon can be changed to perform better on the battlefield, so keep an eye out for those upgrade materials.
Change the map
It won’t be a new season of Fortnite without changing the map. While the overall layout of the map remains the same, you’ll notice some new spots to visit in season 7. The center of the map still has a huge point of interest, but the split roads are gone. orange branch from season 6. Due to the alien invasion, there are many slight differences you will notice, especially in terms of terrain and color palette, so make sure you keep an eye on the ones new area.
The new positions are marked as follows:
- Believer’s Beach
- Corny Complex
But you’ll also find new things to explore east and west of Craggy Cliffs, as well as west of Lazy Lake and north of Retail. Part of the fun Fortnite are exploring, so we won’t spoil things here!
A new battle passed
Finally, let’s dive into season 7’s new battle, as it comes with a lot of changes. The most notable change is that Epic has reintroduced the Battle Stars system, allowing players to unlock items that pass the battle in any order. This means you won’t have to go through a chronological numbered level system to get cosmetic items. As you progress through your battle, you earn Battle Stars, and these function like a currency, used to “buy” items. This gives players more freedom in how they unlock items and allows them to ignore things they might not want.
As for the characters, there’s a lot to get for you this season, including the aforementioned customizable Kymera, Sunny, a rabbit named Guggimon, Joey, Unzipped, Zyg, Choppy, Doctor Slone, and Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty. Halfway through the season, players will be able to unlock Superman, so be sure to subscribe Fortnite in a few weeks. This also means that there will likely be Superman-related challenges to unlock after the hero goes live. As you level up through your battle, you’ll gain access to various cosmetics you’d expect from Fortnite like emojis, skins, loading screens and even V-bucks.
Speaking of V-bucks, remember, you will need to purchase a battle pass to get access to all the features mentioned above. It costs 950 V-bucks, which equates to about $8. The interesting thing is that when you play, you will get V-bucks back by leveling up the battle pass and they can be used for the next season. And, as always, we’ll be covering new challenges every week, so stay tuned for our tutorials as they become available.
