The latest season of Fortnite here finally and as you would expect, it comes with a bunch of changes and features. Is called Fortnite Part 8: Cubism, you’ll have plenty to do with the latest update. Most notably, the story from season 7 continues, but this time, things have spiraled out of control. Even more out of control than an alien invasion. Now, the giant Mothership is crumbling and the world has a new threat. In addition, you will find new map changes, new weapons, quest system and of course, a new battle with tons of things to unlock.
There’s a lot to be said for the latest installment, so let’s dive in. Here’s everything you need to know about Fortnite chapter 2, season 8.
So the aliens are gone now, but that doesn’t mean everything is still safe. In fact, the new Cube Monsters that hit the island are even more lethal than the other enemies. Fortunately, they only appear in new areas called Sideways Anomalies (as well as Sideways Zones), which are portals to alternate dimensions where gravity is low and the area is filled with dead beasts. people. We’ll cover this in more detail below, but suffice it to say, these areas are high risk/high reward and give you the opportunity to step out with useful gear.
Also, you will come across Sideways Zones, not to be confused with Sideways Anomalies. The Walkway area appears on the map as a circular area and appears in different locations each match. They are similar to the alien ships in the previous installment, in that they will change each match you play. This is essentially the opposite of the Sideways Anomaly, where the alternate dimension is taken to the island instead of you going to the alternate dimension.
Speaking of new gear, the map will now have a different weapon than last season. You’ll come across FAMAS explosive rifles and other new additions, but the main weapons to watch out for are those you find in Sideways Zones. One thing you can collect from the Cube Monster is – wait for it – the Cube Monster Parts. These are items that can be used to upgrade Sideways’ weapons, and you’ll definitely want to do so to take down your opponents.
There’s also the Sideways Rifle and the Sideways Minigun, both of which are as powerful as they sound – even more so if you upgrade them. So keep an eye out for the new base guns and Sideways weapons in season 8.
As expected with a new season, map changes have been made to Fortnite update. For the most part, the map is still intact, but now that the island is filled with Cubes, a bunch of changes have been made. The new Roadside Area is of course a major new addition, along with the Walkway Anomaly, but there are even more substantial additions to look forward to.
Around the map are Turret Stations represented by the dollar sign ($). Spend your gold bars setting up Turret Stations to defend against the Cubes in an attempt to bring back the Vault. Once this is done as a community, players will then be able to vote on which weapons will be available for the rest of the season, which is an exciting new feature with a bright future. uncertain future. But this adds flavor to the ever-expanding changes in Fortnite.
The map is now littered with sentient Cubes that will eventually damage the island, hence the name Fortnite Part 8: Cube. We know the Cubes are created from dark energy and have caused the rift in The Sideways to open, although the mystery will unfold throughout the season. The cubes have also affected the wildlife around the island due to the presence of the Shadow Stones. These items appear among the debris from the Mothership’s crash and cause Shadow Floppers to spawn – a new fish variant.
For now, you’ll want to defend against the Cube Monster as the season progresses. Hopefully, we will learn more about these mysterious Cubes and their motives.
In season 8, the missions/challenges are now categorized into punch cards. This doesn’t necessarily change the way challenges are completed, but it certainly looks cleaner in the menus. It looks like each currently deployed character has their own punch card with various quests for you to complete. The cool thing is that you can click on a character’s punch card to show their location on the map. When you visit the character, they will give you all the quests they have available, and each mission you complete will give you more XP than the last one.
Daily and weekly punch cards are also available, although they are less complicated and appear the same way as before.
Binding the season together is a new battle full of gadgets to unlock. It’s set up like the battle from season 7, with the star system in place. As you earn XP, you accumulate stars, which can be spent on items in battle in a non-linear manner. This also gives you access to the new Paint a Toona Fish feature, which allows you to customize the look and feel of the game. To do so, you need to find Rainbow Ink containers around the map. There are tons of colors to find around the map, and they work like the Alien Artifacts from last season.
Most notably, the final battle gives you the Carnage skin, along with other character-themed cosmetics. Carnage is a beloved villain in the Spider-Man franchise and very closely mirrors Venom, who you may be familiar with. You have to get to the 10th page of the battle to unlock the skin, which can take quite a while, but given how awesome it looks, it’s well worth it. You’ll also unlock a few emojis, a harvester, loading screens, gliders, and back bling, all of which are themed after Carnage.
