Saber Interactive introduced new gameplay from Evil Dead: Games at the Summer Game Fest event on Thursday. Evil Dead: Games will let players take the role of one of the franchise’s characters as they fend off waves of the dead and try to save the world. The game allows the player to choose right or wrong as they search for artifacts, Necronomicon pages, and other tidbits from the series.
Evil Dead: Games was originally announced at The Game Awards in December 2020, accompanied by a little cinematic trailer showing how to play. The new trailer at Summer Game Fest detailed the game’s mechanics a bit more, showing players how they can interact with the movie’s iconic locations and items. The trailer is narrated by Bruce Campbell, who plays Ash Williams in the series.
Evil Dead: Games is a co-op and PvP multiplayer action game that allows players to set up their own moral compass based on the character they play. Players will work in a team of four to save the world from deadly places by impersonating one of the film’s heroes. They can also star as the Demon Kandarian, using the powers of possession to live with other demons and take down the good guys.
Along the way, the player can find tapes and other items that provide the foundation lore and help them with their quest. More than 25 different weapons, including guns, sledgehammers, shovels, and more, can be used to perform gruesome, superior finishing moves.
Evil Dead: Games will release in 2021 for PlayStation 4/PS5, PC, Xbox One/Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch.
