Square Enix updated its Steam pages Final Fantasy 5 and 6 rework, do it again with a message announcing that two titles are being deleted from the popular digital game market. After July 27, both Japanese role-playing games will no longer be available for purchase. “Please purchase a pixel-by-pixel remake of”Final Fantasy VI, “Coming soon,” Square announced.
The Final Fantasy 5 and 6 The remakes have been of great interest to fans as both are ports of the mobile version, which has also been poorly received. The gameplay quirks and reworked art make the experience worse than the original version and the Gameboy Advance ports.
While players are often quick to disagree with a decision like this, it’s the right way to open up Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection. Mobile remakes on Steam have always been a cheap return, and their technical inferiority to the new pixelated remakes will push them to the brink of death.
This move will eliminate potential confusion for buyers, as the upcoming remake won’t hit shelves with the old version at the same time. This choice by Square eliminates the middleman and keeps things as simple as possible while hoping to deliver a better product.
Now, all we have to do is hope that the new pixel revisions will be better than previous attempts. Thankfully, Square was on the right track by keeping the sprite work intact. However, the lack of a confirmed console release and the sparse details worry fans.
