Fortnite Season 7, Week 1 has started with a new alien theme to keep things interesting. With that, Epic Games rolled out a new set of challenges, and for the most part, they were relatively simple to overcome. The only things that can cause you some trouble require you to visit specific areas around the map. One is specifically for accepting a quest from a pay phone, and while they’re not hard to find, you can run into some trouble if you’re unsure of what to look for.
In this guide, we’ll show you everything you need to know about completing this challenge as part of season 7, week 1. Here’s how to accept a quest from a pay phone in Fortnite.
Pay phones appear in fixed locations around the map and are mostly scattered around the outside. For help finding them, please refer to the map above (credits to Fortnite.gg). Which you choose to visit will depend on the trajectory of the battle bus at the start of the match. Ideally, you should choose one that is a bit far away if you are worried about encountering another enemy player.
If an opponent visits you, they can knock you out before you can get the pay phone, which means you have to try again in a separate match. So pick one of them and get in touch with your team so they can track you as you make your way to the pay phone. Keep in mind that this can be done in any battle royale or Team Rumble mode. If you get stuck, we recommend trying Team Rumble because you can respawn if you get knocked out, making it easier to try again.
Once you’ve found the pay phone, the hard part is over. At this point, all you need to do is interact with the pay phone by pressing square on PlayStation, X on Xbox, or Y on Nintendo Switch and you’ll be prompted to accept a quest. Choose Prefer and you will start the mission and complete the challenge. Note that you don’t actually have to complete the task assigned to you by your payphone – just start it and you’ll get credits for this week’s challenge.
Now, you can choose to complete the quest either way, as you’ll get some gold bars for doing so, but you don’t have to. After accepting the quest, you’ll complete the weekly challenge and earn 30,000 XP for your battle pass. Since this process can be completed quickly, we recommend that you do not skip it.
