As part of Fortnite season 6, week 9, players will need to activate the rift by purchasing it from a character to complete the challenge. It’s not a difficult task, but there are a few things you need to know about this challenge before taking it on.
For starters, you’ll need to know which NPCs sell rift portals as well as how to make sure you have enough money to buy them. Also, it helps to know how the rifts work. In this guide, we’ll cover all of that and more. Here’s how to activate the rift by buying it from a character in Fortnite.
How to activate the rift
The main hurdle to this challenge is actually buying the ability to use the cracks. As you can see in the map above (thanks, Fortnite.gg), there are plenty of NPCs that give you access to the rifts. Any of these NPCs will work, so pick a convenient NPC and drop by to chat. We recommend visiting an NPC out of sight so you have less chance of being run over by enemy players. Also, working with a team on this can be a huge help as they will be able to follow you as you make your way to the NPC.
Another factor that you need to consider when taking on this challenge is the cost of the rift. It will set you back 245 gold bars, so you will need to have that many before completing the challenge. There are many ways for you to get gold bars, such as completing bonuses, eliminating players and completing certain tasks. If you’re missing bars, we recommend talking to different NPCs on the map. They tend to offer quests – many of which can be easily completed, earning you some gold in the process.
To complete this challenge, all you need to do is buy access to a rift. By this point, if you’ve been playing all season, you’re close to reaching the required amount, assuming you don’t spend your bar money very often. Talk to one of the aforementioned NPCs and select the option to “Activate the Rift.”
In doing so, you’ll be instantly shot out of a rift in the sky, allowing you to easily navigate the map. You won’t spawn as high as when the game first started, but you’ll have enough air time to quickly get to any nearby areas. You’ll also earn 24,000 XP for your troubles, so it’s well worth your time to complete this.
