From Fortnite Season 6, Week 12 has arrived, and of course, it comes with a bunch of new challenges for you to complete. This week, the challenges are a bit more in-depth than before, but most of the goals are still easy enough for you to grasp. One of the more challenging requires you to take down the Spire Guardian, which is essentially a mini-boss found on the map. You’ve seen mini bosses like this if you’ve played previous seasons.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to find these Spire Guardians and how to prepare to destroy them, and we’ll also include tips for the battle itself. Here’s how to defeat the Spire Guardian in Fortnite.
Where to find Spire Guardians
The first step is to find the Spire Guardians. These enemies can be found at – wait for it – Spiers. Part 6 again revised Fortnite and one of the most noticeable changes is the star-like formation in the center of the map. Each of the six points branching from the center has a Spire, and these locations have a Guardian mini-boss. Refer to the map above for more details (thanks, Fortnite.gg).
In general, we recommend landing near Spire, but not directly next to Guardians as they will easily take you down if you’re not prepared. Instead, land close, gear up, and then start the fight. Guardians usually spawn at the bottom of Spiers themselves, so you should avoid landing on the ground. If you land right on top of the Spire, you might get a vantage point on the Guardian, but depending on the loot spawned here you might not be prepared enough to win the fight. That’s why we recommend landing elsewhere so you have your gear ready. When you’re ready, attack the Guardian.
How to Defeat Spire Guardian
As for the fight itself, if you’re hiding on top of the Spire while attacking the mini-boss, you’ll have a much easier time. There’s only one way the Guardian can reach you, so hopefully, you have a shotgun or an SMG on hand if the boss comes to see you. However, you should ideally deal damage with longer ranged weapons from above. In the end, the kind of gear you have is down to luck, sadly.
If you don’t have the right weapon for the fight, we don’t recommend joining the Guardian. So if all you get is a pistol or a weak SMG, perhaps consider retreating for better gear. The boss doesn’t have a lot of health but can deal a lot of damage, so be aware that you may have to step back if you don’t gear up. The strategy is to shoot the boss from above, and if necessary, you can jump off the Spire to heal. You can use Spire as a cover, which is really good.
After defeating the boss, you will complete the challenge and earn 24,000 XP for your troubles.
