Fortnite Season 7, week 11 is underway, along with a whole new set of challenges for you to complete. One of the first ways that can confuse you is to use a scout scanner to detect trespassers or infected wildlife. There are a lot of things that can put you off with this challenge, such as getting your hands on a scout scanner or knowing where to look for infected wildlife or trespassers.
Don’t worry, we have all the tips to help you here. In this guide, we’ll show you everything you need to know to complete the challenge with ease. Here’s how to use a scout scanner to detect trespassers or infected wildlife in Fortnite.
The first step to completing this challenge is to find a scout scanner. These items spawn from chests around the world but have a higher chance of spawning from IO chests, spawning at IO Stations. These are high traffic areas with deadly NPCs, so you should be careful when approaching. You can certainly get here in an instant, but it’s hard to guarantee that you’ll survive. That’s why it’s a good idea to visit someone on your team so they can keep an eye on you. Check out the map above (thanks Fortnite.gg) for all IO Chests locations. We recommend staying away from areas in the center of the map because those are the most crowded areas.
Once you have your scout scanner – an item used to reveal the locations of other players and items around you – leave the IO Station as carefully as possible.
Once you’ve got your hands on the scout scanner, you have two options to complete the challenge. You can use it to scan for infected wildlife or intruders. Based on our testing, it has been much easier to find infected wildlife since they are ubiquitous on the map. Although they tend to appear in a large radius, so it will be difficult to catch them if you are unlucky. The alternative is to find the intruder, which we’ve covered in detail in our dedicated guide. These are harder to find, but there’s a solid strategy to finding them, so how you choose to tackle it is up to you.
If you use the map above, you will see the general location of the infected animals. It’s important to note that animals tend to move, so you may need to do some searching. Either way, shoot the scout and animal/intruder scanner, and when it works, you’ll get credits for completing the challenge, along with 30,000 XP.
