The Genshin effect appeared in 2020 as one of the most popular free-to-play RPGs of that year. What was originally somewhat discarded as a Breath of the Wild clone quickly draws players into its unique and addictive world. Free, as well as available on PlayStation, PC and even mobile helped The Genshin effect became one of the most popular and profitable games that year. Although the game has a gacha system, some of which are taken advantage of and nasty, for the most part the reception towards this bright and stylish game has been very positive.
Almost a year later, after numerous additions, updates, and smaller content improvements, The Genshin effect has reached the full 2.0 release. This update is by far the most impressive the game has ever seen, with tons of new additions to spend even more time with. If you’ve paused the game, or just aren’t following the news closely, it will be difficult to keep up with everything new in the game. Here’s everything new in The Genshin effect The 2.0 update you need to know.
From the very beginning, we knew that the world of The Genshin effect much larger than what we were given to discover. Teyvat, as it’s called, has seven countries, but until this update we can only visit Mondstadt and Liyue. Now, with update 2.0, a third country of Inazuma has been added. The country is loyal to the Electro Archon Baal, and is made up of six main islands: Narukami Island, home to Inazuma City, Kannazuka, Yashiori Island, Seirai Island, Tsurumi Island, and Watatsumi Island.
In terms of how much to do in the first two regions, Inazuma is a big addition to the world. We’ll go deeper into what we can do and what we can achieve later, but in terms of scope, the game is basically up about 50%.
Two new bosses to look for in this area are the Perpetual Mechanical Array and the Pyro Hypostasis.
In terms of newly earned characters, technically there are only four characters added. However, three stars get a five-star rating, and the other four, making them all well worth checking out. Plus, as usual, we can expect more characters to join the game as the team shows no signs of slowing down in adding them. However, for now, this update brings the total number of characters to 37.
Kaedahara Kazuha is a five-star rated sword user, Kamisato Ayaka is a five-star Cryo sword user, Yoimiya is a five-star Pyro archer, and Sayu is a four-star Anemo claymore user. For now, we know that the two characters will have story quest routes to take on. Kamisato Ayaka has a dedicated story quest that you can dive into that focuses on her being the daughter of Kamisato of the Yashiro Commission. This quest unlocks when you use the necessary keys upon reaching Adventure Rank 26 and rewards you with a Sakura Mochi recipe, around 60 Primogems, Hero intelligence, etc.
Yoimiya also has a story quest that you can solve.
This update marks the start of Chapter 2 of the Archon Quest for Genshin effect, you may have already finished the prologue. The first act, called Immovable God and Eternal Death, will be available to anyone at or above Adventure Rank 36. Act two, called Silence and Ascension of Darkness, along with stage three, Omnipresence Over Mortals, is expected to drop later.
This quest will focus exclusively on the lore and politics of the new Inazuma region, especially their relationship with their Archon Baal. In total, the number of World Missions in the game will increase to 32.
The developers of The Genshin effect gave us a glimpse of what events, both old and new, we can expect in the 2.0 update. Below is a breakdown of each of the events they mentioned, as well as their events. At the moment, we don’t know when they will start, nor how long we will have to finish them.
- Thunder Sojourn: Muzhen, Alcor’s Technical Director, needs help from experienced adventures. Players will be able to participate in cross-country and combat activities such as Bolt Blitz, Lightning Round, Weaving Lightning, and Automaton Front.

- Theater Mechanicus: Stage of Wonders: Theater Mechanicus has been expanded and is returning to Inazuma with more unique content.

- Ley overflow: Use Original Resin to create Blossoms of Wealth and Blossoms of Revelation and earn Mora.
Additionally, Inazuma is home to a time domain that, along with the usual ones, is called A Thousand Gates’ Empty Boat, which focuses on puzzle.

For all the collecting and collecting you do in Genshin effect, Now you will have a way to grow some plants yourself using the seeds you purchased in your own Serenitea pot. This will make gathering rare special materials a little more reliable than hunting them down in the wild, as well as building specific ascension materials. To start your own mini garden, you will need to get yourself a Seed Station, the specific seed of the plant you want to plant, and the seedbed soil. The seed chamber is given to you by Madame Ping. Depending on the type of seeds you sow, you will need to wait a different amount of time in the real world to see them grow and harvest.
These are interesting. Brand new weapons and artifacts have arrived for testing and new builds in version 2.0. Takashi, a brand new blacksmith in Inazuma has new regional-specific weapons for you to craft. There are seven to start, with two rated five stars and the rest four stars. The five stars are Shock, a bow, and Mistsplitter Reforged, which is a sword.
The four-star weapons are the Hamayumi bow, the Amenoma Kaguechi sword, the Katsuragikiri Nagamasa claymore, the Kitain Cross Spear pole gun, and the Hakushin Ring catalyst. These weapons are almost as hard to pronounce as their namesake, so let’s get to work on forging them all. Just make sure you collect enough Billits first, which is required to craft all of these weapons.
In terms of artifacts, there are only two that start here.
The first is the Symbol of Severed Fate, which is a set of five stars focused on recharging your energies. Here’s how it decays depending on how many shards you equip:
- Two-piece Set – Energy Charge +20%
- Four Piece Set – Increases Elemental Burst damage by 25% of Energy Recharge with a 75% bonus damage cap.
The second is Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, also five stars, and more offensive.
- Two Piece Set – Attack +18%
- Four Piece Set – When casting an Elemental Skill, if the character has 15 Energy or more, they lose 15 Energy and their Normal / Charge / Javelin attack damage is increased by 50% for 10 seconds
While not as flashy or tangible as new quests, characters, or items, The Genshin effect finally getting full cross-save support is still a major addition to the 2.0 update for multiplayer. Specifically, PlayStation players have suffered from having their accounts locked on their platform up until now. Thankfully, PlayStation, PC, and mobile players can now make their progress between all of these platforms through a single unified account.
The only potential downside here is that for this feature to work, PlayStation players in particular, you cannot create a new account on a mobile device or PC using the same email address associated with the PSN account. your.
