Free to play action RPG The Genshin effect will be brought to the Epic Games Store on June 9, as revealed by the game’s official Twitter account today. It was previously available on PC via The Genshin effect website, as well as mobile devices, PS4 and PS5.
Epic Games Store users will receive a “special gift” using the GenshinEpic redemption code, as an incentive to join that platform. This version of Epic will feature cross-play, so players will be able to play against each other regardless of the platform.

The Genshin effect took the industry by storm in 2020, after coming to PS4 and mobile devices. Fans fell in love with the open world, action gameplay, and “gacha” elements. Although free, the developer of the game miHoYo has implemented a money-making strategy known as the “gacha” mechanic. This allows the player to spend real money in the game to get a random set of characters, cosmetics, and items. This keeps players coming back and encourages them to spend money.
Since its launch, it has raked in $60 million in just one week on the market. As of October 2020, it was the highest-grossing game of the month, with the majority of revenue generated coming from Japan, China, and the United States. As of March 2021, The Genshin effect grossed over 1 billion dollars.
The Genshin effect recently launched for PS5, has faster load times and 4K support. It is also scheduled to launch for the Nintendo Switch, although its release date has yet to be announced. To keep players engaged until then, miHoYo will update the game with discounted content that adds rewards and gear to unlock in the game.
