NS The Genshin effect The Twitter account has started a community challenge asking players to follow the account of Ella Musk, a Genshin NPCs are famous for talking to Hilichurls. Most of the rewards are related to Elon Musk, who inspired Ella’s name, rather than anything related to the actual game.
The challenge has caused debate throughout Genshin community, still seething after a precarious situation with the game’s anniversary bonus. To add insult to injury, the so-called community challenge doesn’t offer any in-game rewards. Instead, the challenge rewards are all built around developer Mihoyo’s interaction with Elon Musk.
NS tweet has now been deleted list these rewards for follower milestones:
- If Ella Musk’s account reaches 500,000 followers, The Genshin effect will change its name back to PAIMON, as before.
- If Ella Musk’s account reaches 1 million followers, then Ella Musk will follow Elon Musk on Twitter.
- With 3 million followers, The Genshin effect will invite Elon Musk to live stream the game.
- With 5 million followers, the CEO of Mihoyo will invite Elon Musk to their headquarters.
Fans are not thrilled at the thought of following a new account to help Mihoyo get rewards that don’t really matter to them.
Some have suggested that maybe this challenge is a joke, considering the unrealistic milestones of the account. The Genshin effect has 2.4 million followers, so Ella’s account can hardly match that number let alone surpass it. Ella Musk currently has about 60,000 followers. It’s unclear if Mihoyo is simply kissing the cheek here, especially since the company deleted the tweet shortly after the backlash.
Elon Musk responded to the first tweet, though he apparently didn’t know about the challenge before it started. “Can’t wait to join The Genshin effect, ” he tweeted with a smiley emoji.
Ella Musk even responded, “When will dad come home?” However, this tweet has also been deleted.
There isn’t any explanation as to why Mihoyo deleted the tweets, but the high negative reception seems to be a factor. Looks like Ella’s account is still there, but it’s unclear what Mihoyo intends to do with it now.
