Ghost of Tsushima, the Silver Medal Winner Game of 2020, has received a major overhaul for the PlayStation 5. The PS5’s processing power has taken the beauty and gameplay of the base game to the next level in Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut. But players are eager to know if they will have to start from scratch or whether their PS4 will transfer their saved data to Ghost of Tsushima: Director Cut. Thankfully, the Sucker Punch team made it easy for the players to return.
Does my PS4 save transfer data to Director’s Cut?
Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut prompts you to transfer your saved data on your PS4 as soon as you load the game for the first time. Follow the onscreen prompts and make sure to select your most recent save. However, if you decide to join now, you can still transfer your data by selecting Transfer PS4 console Save from the main menu.
To make sure you’re using your most recent save, go into the base game, upload the story, and save it manually. The timestamp will now be today (or whatever date you first played the game). Then come back Director cut and transfer your data. However, all this depends on Ghost of Tsushima saved data has been transferred to your PS5 hard drive or an external hard drive connected to the system. However, we recommend that you keep the data stored on the main hard drive.
Note: Make sure to back up your current save in the cloud. Initiate a data transfer that will overnight any existing save files!
Will my Ghost of Tsushima: Legends transfer data?
Yes, you will be prompted to transfer Ghost of Tsushima: Legends PS4 saves data to Ghost of Tsushima: Director Cut. Fans of the multiplayer mode are looking forward to Ghost of Tsushima: Rivals, a PvPvE game mode in which two teams of two compete against each other to see who can destroy the most enemies first. Teams will destroy each other with events like Hwacha fires and corpse explosions.
How to transfer saved data from PS4 to PS5
If you just bought a PS5 with Ghost of Tsushima: Director Cut, You will want still transfer your PS4 saved data to PS5. Here’s how to do it.
- Make sure that both systems are connected to the same Wi-Fi network via wireless connection or LAN cable.
- Log in to your main profile on both systems.
- Connect your PS4 to your PS5 using a LAN cable. If both systems are using LAN cables to connect to the same network, connecting the systems together is not necessary.
- Start transferring from your PS5 by going to Settings > System > System Software > Data Transfer > Continue.
- Choose your PS4
- Follow the on-screen instructions
- Select the data you want to transfer (ideally all, but especially Ghost of Tsushima data in this case).
- Allow enough time for the transfer to complete.
You can also access data stored in your PS+ Cloud Storage if you’re a PS+ member.
Should I transfer my data?
There are two sides to “should I start over?” coin. On one side, Ghost of Tsushima fans have been immersed for hours in Jin’s journey. On the other hand, Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut Worth a fresh start. You’ll want to recapture the magic of gaming with updated graphics, fast load times, and some new features (which we won’t spoil you for).
However, if you’re looking to jump right into Iki Island, you’ll want to transfer your saved data, especially if you’ve already beaten the game and haven’t entered New Game+. Iki Island unlocks at the beginning of Level II, warning the player that Iki is not walking in the flower garden. Furthermore, you cannot return to Tsushima until you reach a certain point in the Tales of Iki story. Finally, several alternative dialogue options are offered through the Iki story for those who defeated Khotun Khan.
