Ubisoft is taking its Ghost Recon series into new territory with Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Frontline, a free-to-play, player-versus-player shooter with support for over 100 players.
The Ghost Recon series is a flagship product of Ubisoft. This 20-year-old military tactical shooter has multiple entries, dating back to 2001. 2022 Frontline marks the first time the series entered the online multiplayer arena, followed by disappointment Ghost Recon Break Point.
While the game will feature multiple game modes, the big highlight is in Expedition, where over 100 players will battle in groups of three to complete objectives while walking across an open world map with many biomes. Said objectives include interrogating enemies to find out where teammates are (similar to Fortnite), collect and protect intelligence, and survive their journey. Victory is declared by reaching the end and calling on a mining team to escape.
Ubisoft promises that Expedition will be a unique experience for different players. The company emphasizes that the game mode can be completed in a variety of ways. Players can call in dynamic shells, vehicles, auto turrets, etc.
Ubisoft also announced that “faster” modes will be reached Ghost Recon Frontline also. The game will be updated seasonally with new player classes and game modes.
In spite of Frontline With no confirmed release date yet, players in Europe on Windows PCs can participate in beta testing on October 14. Ghost Recon Frontline heading to Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Amazon Luna, and Google Stadia.
