Social media has become an important way that many people find, use and share news. These online communities give us information we may not encounter, and provide space for discussion and exchange.
So we’re working on a small project to explore how people think about the news they meet on social media. We’d love to get your answers to some headlines and ask a few brief follow-up questions.
David Rand, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who studies cognitive science and social media, and his team will look at the answers (have deleted the identifier) and then share the findings. show their profile about you and other New York Times subscribers who attended our live event in May.
You will be presented with a collection of news headlines from a variety of online news sources. We are interested in the possibility that you will share them on social media if you see them there.
