One of the highlights of the Xbox ecosystem is the Xbox Game Pass. For a monthly fee, gamers have access to over 100 titles, from last year’s classics to today’s biggest releases. Xbox Game Pass can be one of the best deals in the game, but there may come a time when you need to cancel. Maybe you’re taking a break from gaming, or you’ve played all the best games on Games Pass. Whatever your reason, the folks at Xbox have made the process pretty easy, as long as you know where to look.
Here’s how to cancel an Xbox Game Pass subscription on Xbox and PC.
Xbox has changed its unsubscribe process several times over the course of its console’s life, but it seems to have settled on a fairly simple system later on. If you’re primarily a console user, follow these steps to end your Xbox Game Pass subscription.
Step 1: Open the Guide Menu by tapping Xbox Guide button in the center of the controller.
Step 2: Select your profile, then select My account on the pop-up window.
Step 3: Choose Payment and Invoicing from the right side of the screen.
Step 4: Selection Xbox Game Pass.
Step 5: Choose Cancel registration.
Step 6: Selection It’s correct to confirm that you want your subscription to end.
You can also unsubscribe from your PC. Open your favorite web browser, follow these steps and you’ll be good to go.
Step 1: Navigate your web browser to xbox.com.
Step 2: Log in to your profile by clicking Log in in the top right corner.
Step 3: Click your profile picture at the top of the page.
Step 4: Click the three dots at the bottom right of the pop-up menu and select Registration.
Step 5: Find the Xbox Game Pass option and click Manage.
Step 6: Click Cancel registration.
Step 7: On the pop-up window, confirm that you want to end the recurring payment.
You will still have access to Xbox Game Pass until the current subscription ends. This could be the end of the month or longer if you have paid months in advance. Xbox doesn’t offer cancellation and partial refund options for prepaid months, so you’ll need to use up the rest.
Once your subscription expires, any games you’ve downloaded via Game Pass will be inaccessible unless you renew your subscription or purchase it now. If at some point in the future you decide to come back, Xbox Game Pass will bring you back with open arms and you can play those games and more again.
