Psychonauts 2 has quickly become one of the most popular releases of the year and – like any good game launched in 2021 – it has a powerful Photo Mode. It’s not available to new players, but with a little research, you’ll be snapping pro shots before you know it.
If you are looking to start with Psychonauts 2of Photo Mode, you’ll need to be prepared to spend a few hours in the game. Here’s how to unlock Photo Mode and how to make the most of its powerful features.
Photo mode in Psychonauts 2 practically the same as Photo Mode in other games. Once unlocked, it will give you access to a variety of filters and ways to modify the look of your game before taking a screenshot. It’s a great way to take pictures Psychonauts 2The graphics are stunning – and often psychedelic – and certainly a perfect fit for the game.
Best of all, it allows you to pause the action, remove UI elements, and take your time creating the perfect shot in the heat of battle. However, unlike many games, Psychonauts 2 doesn’t give you Photo Mode right away. Instead, you need to work for it.
Before you get access to Photo Mode, you’ll need to go through a good chunk of the main story. You will eventually be allowed to leave Motherlobe and enter the Quarry. Depending on how fast you play – and how many side quests and collectibles you get distracted – this can take several hours.
After unlocking Quarry, head to Otto’s Research Facility. If you are looking out at the lake in front of you, it will be to your right. You’ll also find it listed on the Quarry map if you need it from a different starting location.
To get there from Motherlobe, just walk towards the edge of the platform in front of you. This will trigger a series of floating disks to appear and form a neat path to Otto’s lair.
After entering the building, talk to Otto, who is behind the counter at the front of the room. Ask if you can borrow any of his gadgets and he’ll give you both a Thought Modulator and a Camera – the latter giving you the ability to use Photo Mode and take screenshots .
Once Photo Mode is unlocked, hold down the D-Pad key on Xbox or the V key on PC to use it. From here, you’ll be able to edit the screenshot in the following ways:
- Set out Raz
- Adjust position
- Rotate the camera
- Zoom in or out
However, unlocking Photo Mode doesn’t give you full access to everything it has to offer. To do that, you’ll need to visit Otto-Matic. This is where you’ll find the Filters on sale, each available for 75 psitanium. These completely change the way the world appears through the lens and are available in several flavors:
- Fragrance agent
- Discrimination eye
- Hot Dog Spectralizer
Once they’ve been purchased, you’ll be able to cycle through them at will using the Otto-Shot. Each is more unique than the last, so you should definitely save up a bit of psitanium to collect them all.
