Kirby titles are known to be kid-friendly. A character’s pink ball is invincible in most games and even if he can “die”, as in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, there is hardly any penalty for when it happens. The adventure is meant to be a fun, carefree and fun walk through some stages of creativity, easy puzzles, and perhaps mildly challenging boss battles (preferably). However, nearly every Kirby game admits that some people are looking for a deeper challenge in these games, and while they may not push you to the absolute limit, they can give you a little resistance.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land there’s plenty of late-game content – again, a staple for Kirby – but the biggest draw for most challenge seekers will undoubtedly be the Colosseum. This battle arena will test you more than any normal level in the game through duels that include multiple rounds of tough mini-bosses, normal bosses, and even monsters. The unique boss is only there to put the commoners to shame. If you’re not ready for the difficulty spike, this might be a bit of a shock for a casual Kirby player. Don’t worry, because Kirby is a resilient ball of joy, especially since he’s absorbed all the information in our Colosseum guide.
Note: There will be boss plug-ins, including late-game bosses and unique bosses, for Kirby and the Forgotten Land go forward.
Like every location in Waddle Dee Town, you’ll need to unlock this location. However, instead of just rescuing several Waddle Dees at different levels of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the Colosseum is unlocked based on progress to a specific point in the game. To open up this arena for your fighting pleasure, go through the game until you clear the Wondaria Remains area and beat the Danger Under the Big Top quest at the end. After doing so, you will receive a notification that the Colosseum is ready for battle, allowing you to fight for great rewards.
Once you’ve opened it, just head to Waddle Dee Town, approach the Colosseum and you can start getting the different cups on offer. There are three trophies in total, but only one is available to start with, which is the Meta Knight Cup. To unlock the next cup, the Ultimate Cup, you need to not only defeat the Meta Knight Cup, but also complete the main story of the game. Kirby and the Forgotten Land and continue after the credits section. The final trophy, the Ultimate Cup Z, is only unlocked by finishing the Ultimate Cup first and getting the actual ending of the game. To get to this ending, you need to complete Isolated Isles – Forgo Dreams, which is divided into seven different levels.
In every cup, it’s always a great idea to treat yourself to an item from the Waddle Dee store before stepping in. Remember that each summoner, attack, defense, or speed spell can be boosted five times to increase the effect.
For the Meta Knight Cup you will be the weakest as you may not have done everything else in the game yet but certainly haven’t received a strong reward from beating the cups. On your first view, we are ready to provide the ability to clone Volcano. It does very high damage but also has a great range and can cause burns to deal damage over time, perfect for destroying larger health bars. After defeating this cup, the skill Meta Knight Sword is the next skill to be used to repeat as it has super damage, plus ranged attack as long as you have full HP.
Between each round, make sure and heal with max Tomato. Using one will replace it with a plain orange in later sets, but there’s enough to use between sets without running out, so chop it up.
The Meta Knight itself will be the hardest part of this cup. While the game tempts you to immediately grab his sword at the start, stick to your existing duplication instead. You don’t want to be close most of the time. Surround him to avoid when he fires his sword explosions, and keep an eye on him as he strikes his massive slash. If it hits, a scene will fire and instantly halve your HP.
After dropping to less than half health, Meta Knight will summon stones that fall to the arena. They’re easy enough to dodge based on their shadow, so just stay in the light.
The Ultimate Cup is a big step up in the challenge. This time, the number of rounds is doubled, for a total of 12 rounds, now forcing you to fight every boss from the main game. Like the Meta Knight Cup, the first nine rounds are random mini-bosses, followed by round 10 with a fight with Leongar, 11 with Fecto Gorgo and 12 with Fecto Elfilis.
Depending on your confidence level, enter this goblet with the ability to clone Ice or Fire Dragon. Blizzard Ice is great because it allows you to block and completely nullify most damage, but it comes at the expense of lower damage and more prolonged skirmishes. In contrast, Dragon Fire has great damage and range, and can also cause burns. The jump attack is great for quickly moving and dodging, although it does require a bit more skill.
For this trophy, make sure you have at least three Max Tomatoes waiting between rounds for the last three rounds. Trust us, you will need them.
Finally, for Ultimate Cup Z, we have 12 more fierce battles. We start with the usual nine random first nine mini-bosses, but round eight will always be Phantom Meta Knight, all the way up to round 10, where you face Forgo Leon, 11 with Morpho Knight, and the final round with Chaos Elfilis . Chaos Elfilis is a bit unique in that it comes in two distinct forms. For the first form, focus on dodging the thrust of its spear tip for easy access, dodging bullets, and rushing in as it tries to heal to keep it from healing. As it transitions into its second form, which looks like a large sphere now, get ready to sprint away from the black hole it created on stage. Then, dodge towards the boss to avoid the attack of the two laser beams and use the beam to get out of the way when it summons the meteor.
At this point, you will have the Morpho Knight Sword, which is the only option for this cup. It can destroy those hoods in just one or two hits, and also restores health when hit.

Speaking of stats, the last unlock you get when you beat Ultimate Cup Z is a new Waddle Dee called Trader Waddle Dee in Waddle Dee Town. This little guy set up a shop next to gotcha machines and will let you trade in your Rare Gems for extra character looks. This is a perfect way to fill in any missing figures you have in your collection, although the numbers he gives you will still be random and those with special requirements can be obtained this way. As long as you no longer have the ability to use Rare Stones to upgrade, this is a fair use for any extras you may have.
