Mario + Rabbids: Spark of Hope will be coming to Nintendo Switch in 2022. The announcement appears to have leaked early ahead of Ubisoft’s E3 Forward live stream after a site for games was broadcast live.
The game is a sequel to Mario Kingdom + Rabbids Battle, was released in 2017 for the Nintendo Switch. Although the game website does not confirm the exact details, Sparks of hope maybe another turn based strategy game on the circuit XCOM.
The game’s website offers a few details about the game. It will feature nine characters, including Mario, Rabbid Peach and Luigi. It looks like Rabbid Rosalina will also be joining the lineup, and it looks like Bowser is playable as well. There are also what appears to be a brand new Rabbid featured in the pivotal arts, who has green hair and a sword.
Super Mario Galaxy seems to be somewhat of the inspiration behind the game. The site offers a light-hearted plot description that sets the stage for a sci-fi adventure: “Rescuing the adorable Sparks across the galaxy, whose unique powers will help you in battle war.”
Players will explore space and jump from planet to planet. Screenshots of the game show Mario and his crew exploring a seaside town and some sort of ancient ruins. The plot description notes that players will take down new bosses and familiar enemies.
The game is expected to launch at Ubisoft Forward’s live stream later today. We will provide updates with official details and trailers at that time.
