Metroid Dread was announced today during the Nintendo Direct presentation at E3 as the sequel to the Metroid series. Metroid Dread will release on Nintendo Switch on October 8.
The trailer showcases classic Metroid gameplay with weapons to collect, traverse vast alien worlds and transform into a ball. The trailer also reveals a new armor for Samus in red, white and blue colors. During the Treehouse live event, Nintendo confirmed that Metroid Dread is the sequel to Metroid Fusion.
The Metroid Dread The trailer introduces a new enemy called EMMI These robots will hunt Samus in the adventure. If someone finds Samus and catches her, the game is over unless the player makes a counterattack at the right time. These robots are immune to Samus’ attacks and your only option is to run away from them. It seems there are ways to avoid getting caught by the robot using the upgrades found in the game. The trailer showed off an ability where Samus becomes immobile and can be hidden with a concealment device so players still have a fighting chance.
Amiibo cho Metroid Dread was announced with the game, featuring Samus in her new armor as well as an EMMI character. These two amiibo will be combined and can be used in the game. Scanning Samus into the game will allow the player to gain more energy and increase their health by 100. Touching Samus again will increase your health, but this function only works once per day. Scanning the EMMI will increase the player’s missile capacity by 10, while tapping it again will grant more rockets.
