NBA 2K22MyTeam’s mode is full of different player cards to build your squad, but the Evolution Card difference is one of the most dynamic and exciting card designations in the game.
If you’ve collected a few Evolutions and are wondering what to do with them, we’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you need to know about Evolution Cards, from what they are to how to upgrade them.
The Evolution Card is a MyTeam player card that can be upgraded by completing a series of card-specific challenges. When you start MyTeam, you’ll be prompted to select the Starter tab – this will be your first Evolution Tab. Other Evolution Cards can be earned by achieving milestones and completing challenges across various MyTeam game modes.
The Evolution card has different upgrade levels, and each has better stats and a better overall rating. This Jayson Tatum starter card originally had an overall rating of 80 but improved to an overall rating of 85 after completing the first challenge, which was to score a certain number of points with the card.
Now we have a new set of challenges and multiple directions for card implementation. We can score 150 points and hit 25 triples with just this card to improve Tatum’s shooting stats, or score 150 points and hit 25 shots to improve Tatum’s athleticism and finishing.
Each card evolves in NBA 2K22 different – each card has different challenges and different stats available to improve.
If you are looking to upgrade a particular Evolution Card, you must give that player plenty of playtime and the opportunity to complete the challenges listed. To upgrade this Jayson Tatum card, we have to get the ball in his hand and make sure he’s the player who gets the most buckets.
You can do this in a number of ways, but mostly you just need to be intensely focused on using the player you’re trying to upgrade.
If you’re playing 5v5 we recommend creating an Evolution Card you’re working with the top dog on your list. If you have an entire list of cards with more than 90 overall ratings, it will be very difficult to get a card with an overall rating of 80 to enter the game naturally. Fill your team with similarly ranked cards and let your Evolution Card be the star of the show. Put the ball in his hand or play him repeatedly.
This will be different if you are trying to pursue other challenges like earning a certain number of steals or blocks, but the idea is the same. When hunting defensive challenges, keep your Evolution Card in control at all times and keep him on the lookout for your opponent’s ball handlers and main shooters.
Another great way to reach these Evolution Card milestones quickly is to use them in the 3v3 Triple Threat game mode. In Triple Threat, there are fewer players and less action, which means you can focus on your Evolution Card and get it every time you hit the field.
Once you’ve reached a milestone with your Evolve Cards, you’ll see a small red indicator on your MyTeam homepage notifying you that you have something to watch on the Evolve Cards page. You can also view all your Evolution Cards by navigating from the MyTeam homepage to My team tab, and then to Card Evolution. If you’ve completed a challenge, you’ll see an option to upgrade your card. Choose the path you want to take (if you are offered an option) and choose Upgrade Selection. After a quick animation, your card will instantly receive new stats and a higher overall rating!
