Nickelodeon All-Star QuarrelThe first tournaments are being held together and the organizers have decided that one of the game’s characters is not fit to compete. Michelangelo, one of the games of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles representative, has been banned from an upcoming tournament thanks to one of the most powerful moves in fighting games at the moment.
Really excited to help out the $10k Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl tournament at @SuperSmashCon this weekend. Make sure you are familiar with the rules!

As a platform fighter, taking down players is how players win. But, what if a character could avoid being hit by a bullet completely? That’s what one of Michelangelo’s moves let him do. His move, especially down, may be cancelled. Simply put, it means that the player can end the move at any time just by jumping. Normally, that wouldn’t be a big deal. What makes this jump completely broken is that it can be canceled even if the player doesn’t have any more jumps left to use, essentially giving them infinite jumps.
With as many jumps as you like, the player can avoid combat altogether by repeatedly jumping out of range of the opponent. In a casual setting, it doesn’t matter, but for the organizers running Super Smash Con’s Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl The tournament, which has a $10,000 prize pool, is a big deal. As a result, Michelangelo was banned from the tournament. To any fan of competitive Smash, this story sounds familiar with Meta Knight being dropped from Quarrel tournaments. Thankfully, Michelangelo’s ban came quickly rather than years after the game’s launch.
A patch for the game has been released to address Michelangelo’s infinite jumps, although it has yet to appear on the Switch version of the game. And, naturally, the tournament is being run on Nintendo’s smaller console rather than the much larger PlayStation or Xbox console.
