Ever wondered which of your favorite Nickelodeon characters would come out on top in a fight? Nickelodeon just announced a Super Smash Bros-like fighting games, Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl, will give you a chance to see which cartoon is the last warrior.
Although the idea of a Nickelodeon-themed fighter is a bit silly, players in the fighting game community are keeping an open mind and believe that the new game can be a legitimate competitive experience. . After all, the Super Smash Bros. has been wildly successful. Is there really much difference between Isabelle from Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Wii Fit Trainer will attract Super Smash Bros. and the confrontation between Spongebob Squarepants and Leonardo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Not really! Of course, the popularity of the game will ultimately depend on the quality of the game – balanced characters, serious mechanics, and a strong player base.
All of that will be calculated after launch. Until then, here’s everything we know about Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will be released sometime in the fall of 2021. We haven’t given an official release date yet, but Pre-order information at Target lists the release date as October 5th right now.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will be released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. It is developed by Ludosity and Fair Play Labs, and published by GameMill Entertainment.
From what we got in the announcement trailer, it looks like the game in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will look really similar to Super Smash Bros. Four characters at once will beat it in themed arenas after various Nickelodeon shows until someone comes out on top. Each character is sure to have their own set of custom moves tailored to their on-screen adventures. (We fully expect Spongebob to have an OP bubble-blowing ranged attack.) Reportedly, some additional moves can be unlocked for each character, though it’s unclear what that mechanic will be. how it works at the moment.
The game will include 20 Nickelodeon-themed battles at launch.
Obviously, you want to know if your favorite Nickelodeon character will make the cut. Here is the list of characters confirmed for the launch date and they are from the Nickelodeon series:
- Michelangelo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
- Leonardo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
- Nigel Thornberry (The Wild Thornberrys)
- Flour Toast (Lace & Stimpy)

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will be playable in single player or multiplayer mode, both locally and online. Like any fighting title, multiplayer will be the focus and the player base will be the key to the game’s success. There is no word on what online matchmaking will look like or whether there will be any sort of rating system at this point.
No word on yes or no Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will be cross-platform. We’re tentatively optimistic that the game’s release on all major platforms means a cross-play between them all could be made, but there’s been no official mention of it so far.
If Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl follow the same path as Super Smash Bros., there will likely be DLC characters and stages available on the way. While we’ve got quite a list of fighters so far, there are definitely other Nickelodeon characters we’d love to see appear.
