Atlus’ hit Persona series of RPGs has been around for 25 years. To celebrate, the developer is making seven announcements on Persona’s 25th Anniversary Website.
Persona has become a simple spin-off of Atlus’ flagship JRPG Shin megami tensei to the predecessor of the company itself. The series just launched from its most successful project in Persona 5 and looking to the future.
Atlus has revealed via Twitter that they have news, events and more in store coming soon for the occasion. These announcements will be shared throughout the coming year, with the final announcement being announced in the fall of 2022.
Chances are that one of these messages could actually be Persona 6. Atlus reports that they are reviewing the development of the latest title of the series. It also says that the top quest Persona 5 brought some tension. “When we created Persona 4, there is pressure that it must overcome Persona 3. Now, we will have to create 6 [that] exceed 5. “
While it’s unclear what the other reveal might be, a look at Persona’s past and current gaming trends may offer a few hints. For example, one of these announcements could be a concert experience or music compilation celebrating Persona’s well-received soundtracks.
Another announcement that many are buzzing about is a new installment of Arc System Works’ fighting game, Persona Arena 4. The developers have recently successfully released Dragon Ball FighterZ and Guilty Gear Strive. It also explored the world of Persona again in Battle of BlazBlue Crosstag. Maybe one Persona Arena 5 will probably keep fans engaged until a new main title is released.
The speculation is endless, especially for a company so well-versed in the trading world like Atlus. The visuals, the music, the backstory – it’s all very possible. However, all we can do is wait for the announcements to really kick in, with the first coming this September.
