A new trailer for Pokémon Legend: Arceus Now out, share some new insights on the upcoming action RPG. The biggest reveal is that the game adds a new type of monster called the “Noble Pokémon”, which looks especially scary.
Pokémon Legend: Arceus is a new game that completely changes the standard Pokémon formula. It introduces turn-based combat for a more active, real-time combat system. The new 3-minute trailer shares some new details on how the game will play, making it look a bit like Monster Hunter.
Noble Pokémon are giant new creatures that trainers will battle during their adventures. The trailer introduces a brand new Pokémon named Cleavor, a rock/bug monster with hand axes. The trailer shows a character throwing balls at it to erode its giant, yellow health bar. Noble Pokémon looks like they’ll be some of the game’s higher level hunts.
The trailer offers a closer look at some of the game’s customization options. Players can go to Jubilife Village to craft items, buy clothes, rearrange their Pokémon boxes (it seems here called Meadow) and take pictures with their Pokémon. Several catchable Pokémon can be discovered in the Prairie, including Snorlax, Abra, Psyduck, Floatzel, and Stunky.
The trailer offers another quick look at Pokémon riding, which plays a big part in the game. We see a trainer using a flute to summon a rideable Pokémon. A quick montage features a particularly amusing moment when the player jumps out of the water while riding a fish and throws a Pokéball to catch a monster sitting on a rock.
Pokémon Legend: Arceus launches on January 28 for the Nintendo Switch.
