Calling all Pokémon trainers old to young, the ninth generation of this historic series is on its way and promises to take another step forward. The monster catching series is still as big as it used to be, and since it’s on Nintendo Switch, the series has been able to see more improvements from title to title than if they were limited by hardware limitations. of the dedicated handheld control panel. This generation has seen Sun and Moon, sword and Shield, Brilliant Diamond and shining pearls, and the most ambitious of them all, Pokémon Legend: Arceus. However, it’s been a long time since the final main game, but the wait may be over sooner rather than later.
Announced on Pokémon Day, where we have a special presentation about Pokémon, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet was announced as the title for the ninth generation Pokémon games. As with every new generation, this pair of titles will release concurrently, perhaps with some differences between them to encourage multiplayer, a new list of collectibles, and some gameplay tweaks to add seasoning. In detail on all that and more, here’s everything we know about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet hitherto.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet was a huge shock when it was announced right after two other entries in the franchise: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Legend: Arceus. What’s even more surprising is the release window given for this next big entry in the franchise. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet is currently set for release in late 2022, making it the second title released this calendar year and possibly the third in a 12-month period. While “late” is an intentionally ambiguous timeframe, November seems to be a good predictor of when it will arrive, assuming it isn’t. delayed of course.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will continue the tradition of the series being released exclusively on Nintendo’s latest hardware, in this case the Nintendo Switch. The series has never been released on anything else, not even PC, and there’s no reason to think this pair of versions will have any difference. However, if you’re a Pokémon fan, chances are you already have a Switch ready and waiting.
Our only look at Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet comes from the announcement trailer shown for Pokémon day 2022. The trailer begins with a live-action part following a Japanese security officer patrolling a building at night. An ominous tone, and even a little creepy when something moved in the dark, caught his attention. He led down a long hallway to a door, with a sign identifying it as Game Freak’s office. The music played, easing the tension until he opened the door to a bright light.
He looks around the cluttered room as a cup shakes, pages flip, and other supernatural events begin. Finally, the camera shines on the TV and we get a view of the game world.
The first glimpse of this new area is mountainous, bright and centered on a castle. We glided past sunset lakes, moonlight forests and misty city streets. Here, we’ll get our first look at some of the wild Pokémon roaming the new landscapes, including some new and old favorites, and just a taste of Lucario using an attack. We got a lot of shots of what the architecture of this new area was like in the sweeping shots of the castle spiers, colorful squares, and country houses with furniture. washing and drying in the wind.
Our main character will appear in the frame, a boy entering the house with a Nintendo Switch next to the TV. We put together a real Switch in the office with a welcome guard, with a painting of three new Pokémon as the series’ iconic theme begins to play and the titles of the series begin to play. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet be revealed.
Based on the landscape and architecture, many speculated that the area, whatever it was called, would be based on Spain and Portugal. The focal point is what appears to be a recreation of Barcelona’s La Sagrada Familia. Every area of the main Pokémon game is based on at least one real-life location, so this counts as an unexplored part of the world for the series to tackle.
Story wise, nothing has been revealed yet. Usually, Pokémon games mostly have recipe plots involving some nefarious Pokémon training team who aren’t so good that you have to get in the way of beating all the gym heads. This game can spice things up, but we’ll have to wait for that for now.
The three Pokémon that we see in the portrait at the end of the trailer have been confirmed as a trio of new starter Pokémon that we will have to choose from in the early hours of our journey. These three types are Fuecoco, Sprigatito and Quaxly, representing fire, grass and water types respectively. The official website offers some insight into each person’s personality.
Sprigatito is described as a “erratic, attention-seeking Grass Cat Pokemon.” Fuecoco is a “Fire Pokémon that is comfortable and does things at its own pace.” And Quaxly is a “serious and tidy Duck Pokemon.”
After Pokémon Legend: Arceus made waves by being an open world that, despite being packed with game-centric, stylish gameplay, many wondered if this was the future for the series to come. Thankfully, we didn’t speculate for long because Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet confirmed as a new open world game. They are planning on taking a “new evolutionary step, allowing you to freely explore in a richly rendered open world… Various towns blend seamlessly into the borderless wilderness. You will be able to see the Pokémon of this region in the sky, in the sea, in the forest, on the street – all! You’ll be able to experience the true joy of the Pokémon series – fighting wild Pokémon to catch them – now in an open-world game that players of all ages can enjoy. ”
That quote has a lot of information, most notably the open world aspect, which seems to be moving towards a real open world and not limited to large central areas as we have seen in Pokémon Legend: Arceus. Besides that, it pretty much explains what most people expect. You will go out, see the Pokémon on the map and be able to fight and catch them. We’re curious to know what other mechanics will do Arceus in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet involved in participating in these open-world battles, such that your trainer can be hit and sneak up on Pokémon to capture them without a fight.
We can also assume that the series’ base battle will return, but what turns around, whether old or new, will come remains a great mystery. However, it looks like there will be a good variety of environments, with different city areas shown, various coastal regions, oceans, forests, mountains, and even deserts.
Finally, with any new Pokémon title, we need to talk about Pokédex. Again, there is no official confirmation of the monsters that will be available in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet already done, but we have a few clues. First, we don’t expect all of the 900+ monsters to make it into these games. They haven’t been able to manage that in a couple of titles before, and with their ambition to create a fully open world game, that only reduces the chances of a full roster every generation.
Some people have also commented that Pokémon HOME only says that “specific” Pokémon will be transferable Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. For those who don’t know, Pokémon HOME is a service where you can transfer your favorite Pokémon from one game to the next for generations. If only certain ones can make the leap to the ninth generation, the ones that can’t can be considered absent from the game.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet There will certainly be many players. At a minimum, it will include some trading functionality, as that’s their way of encouraging players with different clones to team up to complete a full roster of pocket monsters. The fights are another safe assumption and it would be a big omission to not have one. Anything else is hard to guess. Pokémon Legend: Arceus the new lost and found system is a kind of asymmetrical multiplayer component that no one will see coming and with this game being fully open world there is a lot of room for multiplayer modes New game added.
We think people will enjoy some kind of co-op mode, but that might be a little too far from imagined desires.
Since the series arrived on Switch, Pokémon titles have enjoyed the modern conveniences of DLC. Sword Pokémon and Shield especially enjoy the two expansion DLC additions, so we expect something similar for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet also. This is all speculation, of course, but feels consistent with the way the series has gone and Nintendo’s support style.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet has only just been announced, so while we’re all eager to pick our favorite starters and start exploring, we have months to go before it launches. If the game comes out in late 2022, then it’s very likely that the next time we see these games, possibly in the summer, we’ll also get the release date and pre-order information. Nintendo has been very good at announcing the game and giving it a release date all at once or very soon after, so we don’t think you’ll have to wait long before pre-ordering your copy. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.
