If you don’t dodge attacks, you should at least move around the battlefield. Razputin isn’t as agile as Batman, but combat still requires you to launch multiple enemies at once. Whether you’re Psi Shooting targets in the air or bouncing from Moderators to Bad Ideas, make sure you’re not standing around waiting for the bad guys to strike first.
This is a no-brainer – but return to the pause screen often to level up your skills. Not only will this make some of your moves more powerful, but you’ll also be able to unlock combos and moves that weren’t available before. If fighting seems a bit daunting, chances are you have a bunch of unused Internship Credits in your pocket.
Newcomers will benefit the most from the melee and Psi Blast skills upgrades, as these are the two skills you’ll rely on the most during the early hours of the game. Psychonauts 2. - Use Psi Blast until it runs out.
- Drag enemies with Spirit Connection.
- Use melee attacks and Pyrokinesis.
- Avoid and repeat.
As you unlock more skills, you can spend them on the sequence above, but that base cycle will cover you for the first five hours Psychonauts 2 until things get harder.
Half-A-Minds are some of the rarest collections in Psychonauts 2. Only a few are in every brain you’ll visit – and you’ll need to scan every fold and wrinkle to find them. If you collect two of them, your Mental Energy will grow by “whole brain”.
In other words, Half-A-Brains increases your available HP. If you’re having trouble fighting, run through the previous locations using the Collective Unconscious and try to pick up a few of these valuable items.
One of the easiest ways to keep yourself alive during combat is to pick up Spirit Energy orbs. They can be found by destroying items in your surroundings and are easily spotted by their glowing green aura. Picking these up will instantly recharge some of your health. Anyone who doesn’t have a Psi Pop or Dream Fluff on hand will want to constantly monitor these drops, as they will be the only surefire way to restore health during intense battles.
