Raz is back in action for Psychonauts 2, and this sequel is full of the same creative and engaging characters, locations, and activities as the first. While the main story will focus on getting into the minds of different characters, there’s also a whole new underworld to explore. This hub contains a lot of side content as well as creativity, so to speak. You don’t have to deviate from the main road at all, but you’ll miss out on some great and unlockable extras if you don’t.
The scavenger hunt is a side quest that goes back from the original. In Psychonauts 2, you can get this quest by talking to Norma right after you’ve been dressed in your new clothes by Sasha. There are 16 items that are considered Mission Critical Psychic Assets that you will need to find throughout the large hub, but not all of them are accessible until you unlock specific abilities . In fact, this quest can’t even be completely completed until you beat the game. If you’re scratching your head trying to find any of these scavenger hunt items in Psychonauts 2, our guide will clear any mental block that comes your way.
We’ll start in the Motherlobe area for some of the first items on our list.
First, go to the cafeteria. At the left end of the buffet, next to the woman’s lunch counter, you’ll see rotten sushi glowing on the counter.
Psychonauts name tag
Go through the Motherlobe Dealer area, and check the doors. The place marked “Storage” next to Milla’s is technically Coach Oleander’s office, so tag this in your collection.
Enemy surveillance drones
While we’re still in Motherlobe, this collection isn’t something you can get until you learn the Astral projection ability, which means it’ll likely be one of the last things you do. receive. Once you’re able to project astral, head into the Artifact Storage, where you’ll remember the area you were locked into by the other interns at the start of the game. This time, use your projection ability to open the locked door inside and jump on top of the locker to get the drone.
Deck of cards
Our deck of playing cards awaits at the bowling alley, which will be available to discover as you progress through the main story. You have to use your remote control technique to pick up a bowling ball and throw it down the lane a few times. You don’t have to do well, but just keep throwing the ball down until – instead of the ball – the deck is shot from the return.
Astronaut Ice Cream
This item is probably the hardest to find on the entire scavenger hunt list. Start by going into the Nervous Center in Motherlobe, and find a computer terminal on the central platform with a green screen. It will be the only one that looks like this, so it shouldn’t be too hard to spot. Interact with it and another terminal will turn green. Interact with that, repeating the process until the last computer along the wall, next to the entrance to Truman’s Grotto, is activated. Use this ultimate calculator to get your astronaut ice cream.
The next two scavenger hunt items are located in the Quarry area.
In Quarry, go through where you can transition into the Area of Doubt and look for an unlit campfire just outside the mine entrance. Use your pyrokinesis to light it up, creating a blast of hot air. Use your flying abilities to use this updated method to reach a wooden plank hanging from a crane. The unexploded bomb lay on the edge.
Our other item in the Quarry was found near Lilli’s garden. Her garden is on the right side of the area, with a cave entrance right next to it on the left. Go inside, lift up some rocks, and hop onto a rock pillar where the knife is waiting.
There’s only one item we need to get from Otto’s Lab, so hurry in and out.
Agent-oriented laser disc
Enter the lab, go straight past Quarry when coming from Motherlobe, and follow Otto to an area where there are several electrified floors between you and the laser disc. Jump on your balloon to safely pass and pick up this vehicle relic.
Four interesting entries on our list are in the Appropriately Named Zone.
For whatever reason, the corn cans will be in the Sassyclops Cave, easily recognizable from the massive yeti standee outside. Use your pyrokinesis to light the campfire you ran to first, near the Aquato family campsite, and use the hot air again to reach up and grab the ledge. Pick up your canned corn and hit the road.
Even if it’s a hatch with a switch, you’ll have to unlock the Time Bubble skill to get it first. Without much damage, you will gain this ability at Brain in a Jar level. Once you have it, head right back to where you lit the bonfire to get the can of corn and look for the nearby waterwheel. It spins absurdly fast, but with the help of Time Bubble, you can slow it down, climb onto the roof of the cabin and add the stopper to your collection.
To get to the skull, you must first operate the funicular. This just means using your telekinesis to grab and fit the gears around the area and feed them into the machine. Once they’re back up and running, the funicular going down the hill will carry the human skull. Don’t think about it too much and just embrace it.
Before we leave the Askable Area, we need to get our new cup. Again, this will require Astral Projection’s late game ability, so you’ll probably have to come back to this one. With that ability learned, take a trip to the Lumberstack Diner. Go inside, use your projection ability to unlock the door next to Sam and go inside. Even if it doesn’t glow, you’d be hard pressed to miss this giant mug on the shelf.
Our last batch of scavenger hunt items was at the Green Needle Gulch. Let’s round them up so we can claim our reward.
Small killer bug bot
In the dome-shaped building where Ford and Psychonauts were once posted, go inside, then go around and up a ladder along the side. You’ll need to ignite a series of spikes with your pyrokinesis to clear your way to the balcony that runs along the outside, where the tiny killer bug remains.
Head north in the Green Needle Gulch, outside of Heptadome, and find the broken down truck near the stage along the road leading to Cassie Opia’s house. It turned out that this was Helmut’s real feeling, and the helmet was right behind the rusty old car.
This oddly specific entry is close to the previous one. Head to the back of Cassie Opia’s house and use your balloon to prop your way up and around to reach this unique phone.
Mindswarm’s signed copy
This last item on our list cannot be collected until you beat the main game, even though it’s close to the last two. Once you’ve finished the story, go back to Cassie’s Hive and talk to Cassie. Raz will ask her to sign his copy Mindswarm, which will get you the book.
So what do you get when you collect all these items for Norma’s scavenger hunt? Well, you not only earn the ability to change Raz’s outfit, but you also earn a few new clothes to try on. These include a suit, circus outfit, and Raz clothing from the original Psychologist. Just find any toilet stall in Motherlobe, and you can swap out your furniture for a new look!
