Spider-Man 2 was revealed at today’s PlayStation showcase. A quick trailer gave us some key details about the project, including a 2023 release date and the reveal that Venom will be a villain in the title.
No gameplay is shown, but a slick trailer shows both Peter Parker and Miles Morales fighting in a dark alleyway. After confronting a number of smaller enemies, they confront something dark from the shadows. At the end of the trailer, it is revealed that Venom will play some role in the game, possibly as its main antagonist. Two characters could mean a potential co-op mode for the game.
Spider-Man 2 comes from the heel of Spiderman, one of the most famous PlayStation exclusives. The lush open world, tight combat, and fun surfing of the first game make exploring the New York City version of the game so much fun. Insomniac, the studio behind the development of both games, is known for its great narrative games. Spiderman has made waves for its high-quality graphics and powerful features, both of which will likely expand into Spiderman 2.
The villain Venom was recently reported to be the star of the upcoming movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Marvel movies based on the latest comics. Tony Todd, a voice actor best known for Star Trek, will voice him in the game. Fans are excited to see these comic legends come together as part of the critically acclaimed game series, but it remains to be seen exactly what the monster’s role will be. .
Few others are known about Spider-Man 2 at this time. The game won’t be out until 2023, but Sony and Insomniac are sure to show additional footage on the way.
