Microsoft showed off an extended gameplay trailer and revealed the release date for STORY 2: The Heart of Chernobyl. The game will release on April 28, 2022, for Xbox Series X/S and PC, and will also be part of Xbox Game Pass.
In the trailer, the player character sits around a bonfire, talking to some of his companions in the shadows of Chernobyl, where a nuclear power plant exploded in real life in 1986 and unleashed massive amounts of energy. radiation. Previous games in the series explored similar areas.
This will be the first new game in STAFF since 2009. Players can battle irradiated monsters, explore different localities to find secrets, and connect with many unplayable stalkers. The game’s extended trailer features various tools, including a weapon and what appears to be a Geiger counter, an instrument used to measure radiation. The player character can be seen collecting weapon fragments from the environment towards a looting or scavenging mechanic. Players will also face mysterious tornado-like energy explosions that appear to be a common enemy of both the player and the irradiated creatures in the environment.
A variety of non-playable characters make the experience colorful and add a bit of humour. The player character, which appears to be a full character rather than a player avatar, has spent time searching for the inhabitants of the game’s barren world. The group seems to be a bunch of scavengers trying to be wary of each other. The trailer ends with a look at a vast world that players will presumably be able to explore.
The game will receive a launch day release on Xbox Game Pass.
