While the world’s zombie obsession isn’t as common as it was a few years ago, we’ll still be seeing some serious zombie action in the future. Undead Labs features the third entry in the State of Decay series, which is sure to cast an eclectic cast of survivors against hordes of wandering undead as they attempt to rebuild a home in a brutal world. Every entry in the series to date has included elements of action-adventure, survival-horror, stealth, role-playing and strategy, blending genres into an exhilarating rebuilding experience. civilization, beheading zombies.
We still don’t have many details on what Decay state 3 what it would look like, but we surreptitiously scoured the wasteland for any news we could find. Here’s everything we know about Decay state 3 right now.
Neither Undead Labs nor Microsoft have announced a release date for Decay state 3, which could mean a year or two away from launch. When the cinematic announcement trailer was released at the Xbox Games Showcase event in July 2020, Undead Labs said the game was in early pre-production. We’re hoping for a 2022 release, but a later 2023 launch could also be on the cards.
Published by Xbox Game Studios, Decay state 3 will be available on Xbox Series X, Series S and PC. It is unlikely that the game will be released in a timeframe where new games are still being introduced on last-gen consoles.
Our first and only look at Decay state 3 is a cinematic announcement released by Microsoft in July 2020. While there aren’t any plot or gameplay details in the trailer, there’s still a bit to unpack.
The trailer shows a lone female victim trying to survive in a cold, hostile environment (fans have suggested the game’s location could be Alaska, Colorado, Wyoming, or Canada based) scene). Sharpening the wooden pegs for her crossbow beside the campfire, the survivor heard something in the surrounding forest – piercing white eyes appeared in the darkness, staring at the lone human. Instead of shooting a crossbow, running away, or at least putting out the fire to make it less visible, the survivor does what we’ve all been taught not to do in a zombie apocalypse scenario – she She screams at whatever is hunting her, not out of fear, but as if to intimidate it. And it works! Anything that creeps up in her campsite runs away. But what is it? In each of the previous Decay State entries, sound was absolute zero. The more noise you make, the more zombies will chase you, screaming and calling for more undead allies along the way.
Later in the short trailer, the survivor finds a trail of blood in the snow and begins to track someone, or something, injured. Staring into the line of sight of her crossbow, she saw a wolf carcass being eaten by what looked like a dead deer – the entire right part of its face was ripped and rotting. After a beat, the deer let out a scream of terror and the trailer abruptly ended.
Are zombies still not enough? Now we have to deal with wild zombie animals? We expect significant weapon upgrades from the simple crossbow shown in the trailer. We’ll need all the firepower we can find.
We don’t have any specifics about the game yet, but we’re assuming that the core of Decay state 3 will look a lot like its predecessors. Controlling a small community of survivors, players will scour the map for supplies to survive, other lost people need to recruit into their community, and plenty of Plague Hearts to consume. Kill is surrounded by countless zombies.
Some of the things fans expect to get an overhaul are the game’s base building system (which is a bit of a mess in SOD2), more powerful customization options for weapons, cars, clothes, etc and a bit more character development. While the characters of SOD2 there are a lot of base stories to share and quirky stories that give them a bit of life, there are almost no changes to the characters over the course of the game and very little field where the characters are seriously attached to each other. If a long-standing member of the community is killed by a stray plague zombie, the rest of the crew will have low morale for a day or so and may put out a line of regret, but later That’s all back.
Decay 2 It’s mostly a personal venture, but there are plenty of ways to play with friends or take part in strangers’ games. After you start a campaign, you can ask a friend to join, taking over another survivor in your community. However, there are some limitations to the system. The incoming player will be tied to the server, which means that if the second player strays too far, they will black screen and return to the area near the server. So there’s no room for completely separate exploration on the same map, and the tethering system makes a quick escape from the zombie hordes too easy in some cases.
Players can also use the in-game radio to call for help on State of Decay’s servers, invite any other online players to join and play on your map.
There is also cross-platform play between Xbox and PC players.
It’s safe to assume that Decay state 3 there will be similar multiplayer options in place. One option that we believe has been missing compared to its predecessor is true shared servers. Building a community with your friends that both of you can access at any time would be great, as opposed to letting a friend jump on a map you own. It’s never fun to join someone’s community and level up a survivor just to log into your own game and get back to first place.
Decay 2 saw a handful of DLC in its lifetime. Each introduces a handful of new base weapons, vehicles, outfits, and mods to the game, pushing the game up a bit.
Final DLC, titled Heartland, which takes the player back to Trumbull Valley, the original setting of The state of decay, for a more story-based game mode. In Heartland, players choose from two sets of starting characters who have come to Trumbull Valley for different reasons. Both pairs of survivors are tasked with finding people important to them – characters that appeared in the original. The state of decay. The DLC also introduces the largest base site in the game, the blood plague monsters (monsters are super powerful zombies with special abilities in the base game – they can now also infect plague. blood for you!) And answers to questions about exactly how the blood plague happened.
We will definitely see some DLC released for Decay state 3. It will be interesting if anyone will go back to previous settings like Heartland consider how different the snow-covered mountains of the new titles seem.
Since there’s no hint of a release date, there’s absolutely no pre-order information. We’ll let you know when those deals become available.
