Huge arsenal of weapons that you will unlock in your space and dimension jumping adventure Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is what makes each part of the series so interesting. There are always a few guns coming back to play, but each new game introduces quirky and innovative new destructors to learn, level up, and upgrade. As long as you’re smart with your bolts and do a little extra work on a secret gun, you’ll have a total of 20 weapons by the time you max out Ratchet and Rivet’s weapon wheel.
Because there are so many guns, and each has many upgrades to unlock, you’ll want to use your Raritanium wisely. There aren’t enough upgrade materials in a single run throughout the game to upgrade all your guns, and until you start investing in one you won’t be able to tell which ones will have upgrades that you really find worth the cost. Instead of wasting your precious resources on lackluster upgrades, check out this list of the best weapon upgrades you can get Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.
We’ve already covered the fact that you need to use Raritanium on your guns to really upgrade them, but the system is a bit more complicated than just pouring resources straight into your gun. Each gun has a grid of upgrade buttons, almost like a skill tree, where you can only unlock booster points depending on whether you have unlocked nearby nodes or not. Not only that, but the best upgrades, represented by golden buttons, won’t even show up until you’ve filled in the surrounding buttons.
All this means is that you’ll want to decide which upgrades you want to prioritize and then plan your upgrade path to achieve these in the most efficient way possible. There’s no way to waste Raritanium – every node will still benefit you – but again, since you can’t upgrade everything in a single playthrough, it’s a good idea to do these upgrades first.
The first gun you get in the game shouldn’t be ignored or forgotten when you start picking up some new toys. This pistol is a simple yet reliable gun to be ready for most casual encounters. It has a normal single-shot mode when you pull the trigger, but also a quick-fire mode with a full pull. When at max level, it can also explode more controlled. This gun has three golden buttons that you can unlock and each of them is worth it to make this gun last as long as possible.
In our estimation, the yellow node on the left side of the tree is the least valuable, in our estimation, and simply increases bullet speed. The yellow button in the middle makes any headshots you receive deal extra damage, and the right button makes the ammo you pick up for Blast Pistol from the barrel increase by 50 shots. These two are very effective for making each shot more valuable and keeping your gun loaded for longer.
As a handy grenade, the Shatterbomb is quite powerful for an original weapon, despite its limited ammo capacity. You also need to be able to predict enemy movements well to ensure they are caught in the blast, which becomes easier the more you invest in increasing the blast radius. The max level version, Shatterblast, has the added bonus of giving a 10% chance for any enemy hit by an explosion to spontaneously explode. It’s a small chance, so don’t count on it.
The yellow button closest to the bottom is another ammo boost, this time giving you two more bombs per barrel. The top two are where you’ll want to go first, with the top right causing the bomb shards to explode, acting like some sort of ball bomb. The top left is also worth taking, causing any enemies in the bomb’s area to take full damage.
There is no magic in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, but Lightning Rod is basically your string lightning spell from your favorite RPG. You guessed it, this gun can blast enemies with lightning that can be chained between them to damage and stun them. Damage is low, but with a constant rate of fire and tons of ammo, it’s perfect for wiping out hordes of enemies. When this gun is fully leveled up, it will transform into a Lightning Strike, which can charge and explode the AOE by holding down the trigger halfway. If you charge it all the way, it will instantly stun any enemies in the blast.
For the first time, all three gold upgrades are worth the search. The bottom button increases the total number of enemies the lightning will chain to and stun. The one on the left will increase the range of the gun and the one on the right increases the auto-aiming of the bolt so it hits enemies easier.
If you can get your hands on this Ricochet gun, you’ll not only feel like a master of timing, but you’ll be able to completely crush whatever unfortunate happens on the receiving end of the bouncing ball. After firing the initial shot and assuming you’ve hit the target, pressing the trigger multiple times for a specific amount of time will cause the ball to continue hitting the target dealing more damage. Not only that, when the first target is dealt, if you keep the timing right, the pinball will automatically move and start harassing the new target. Upgrade this baby to Wreckochet, and instead of just dealing some static damage with each hit, the damage will increase with each subsequent hit.
Like with any other gun, there are three gold upgrades here, but really only two. Both the top right and bottom left do the same thing, but luckily they stack, so it’s worth unlocking both. Both of these will increase the number of times the pinball can bounce off an enemy. The node in the middle is great but not as useful and only causes each hit to cause the enemy to drop more rays.
Replaced Groovitron from reboot, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart introduces the even more terrifying Topiary Sprinkler weapon. However, instead of forcing enemies to jump, this sprinkler turret turns any enemies it spews into a fire barrier version of itself, not only locking them in place but also making them vulnerable. more damage when taking more damage. This is a big boon when you feel overwhelmed with the enemy and just need to cool down for a moment. When you max out the gun’s level, it transforms into a damaging Water Sprayer, dealing additional damage over time to enemies in the form of a barrier.
There’s really only one upgrade to this gun worth making, but the second isn’t too bad either. First and foremost, select the upper left yellow button to let you throw out two sprinklers at once instead of just one. If you have Raritanium to spare, the top right button increases the total number of bullets you can hold by two, and the bottom right button gives enemies you defeat while defending a chance to attack. blood nanotechnology.
Nothing beats a good, reliable rocket launcher. Warmonger is back and still as deadly as ever. This gun is another less exotic gun – just point it at the thing you want to explode and pull the trigger – but that doesn’t mean it’s any less valuable. The damage from the bat is very high, and it can hit multiple enemies with splash damage. It is great for almost every fight in the game but has a slightly slow missile speed, so long-range targets will be difficult to hit. Warmonger transforms into a Peacemaker at max level and fires many smaller rockets that hit other enemies.
The first upgrade you need to get with this rocket launcher is the gold button at the bottom of the grid, which allows the missile to lock and track on target. Second, the other two buttons increase the number of micro rockets by one and increase your maximum ammo capacity by two. This is a good thing if you know that you want to max out this gun, but support rockets are by far the most important.
We won’t mention explicit music when talking about Black Hole Storm and just say it’s as deadly as the cosmic body for which it’s named. In a word, it is a machine gun that you need to get up to speed before unleashing an absolute barrage of bullets. You can spin it forward by holding the left trigger all the way down before firing. Otherwise, there will be a delay between pressing the correct trigger and the bullet flying. Along with the Warmonger and the rest of the guns on this list, the Blackhole Storm is just one of the best guns you can get. Just make sure you don’t overheat and overheat. Turn this baby into a Blackhole Vortex to make any enemies you kill with it explode.
All three gold buttons for this gun are worth getting, so it all comes down to what you want to get first. The middle button makes the gun spin faster, allowing you to start firing faster. The button on the right makes all shots deal 25% more damage when the thermometer is at or above 50%, and the button on the left helps kill enemies that drop the heat meter without having to stop firing.
The Negatron collider is almost powerful enough to be considered a super weapon. One of the highest damage guns in the game, this beautiful orange destructor fires a massive laser after a short charge. That makes it more valuable against bosses, where you can melt through a fraction of their health, as long as you have ammo for it. Like Blackhole Storm, you can boost your next shot by half by pulling the trigger and letting it rip when the right moment comes. The Large Negatron Collider, the very creative name it gets after leveling up, causes the beam to pierce through enemies and explode for greater damage potential.
Because the Negatron Collider is already so powerful, the gold buttons you can unlock are more skill-based and situation-based. The upper right button makes the beam do more damage when you hit multiple enemies and the left button makes the beam destroy the enemy’s projectile to give you some extra defense. The bottom right button gives you two extra bullets from the barrel, which is actually quite useful for a change since guns have such a limited stock.
Finally, we come to the real super weapon in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, RYNO 8. As a super weapon in a game that deals with rift and size, it only makes sense that this gun would use that mechanic. The way it works is that a laser is fired to open a dimensional rift above the enemy, and from there, a random object will fall through and create a large shock wave. Kind of like a rocket launcher, which means you don’t have to be all precise with RYNO because the zone of influence is so large. Plus, once you turn it into RYNO Infinity, even more portals will be ripped open for a bunch of objects and explosions.
The bottom gold button for the RYNO is our personal favorite, although it’s purely for aesthetic and recreational purposes. Considering this gun is already very powerful, you might as well have some fun with it, right? This button adds new objects that can fall through the cracks to include things from other Sony titles, including Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, Horizon, Not discovered yet, and more. Besides that, tap the top left button to increase the maximum ammo the gun can hold to two and if you really want to, get the top right button to get the enemy killed with this gun. chance of blood loss. However, you probably won’t need it.
