Samus Aran is the star of the Metroid series, working as a deadly bounty hunter with a laundry list of weapons at her disposal. In Metroid Dread, the most recent part, this is true, and Samus’s arsenal is said to be more effective than ever. Transparent Metroid Dread, you encounter a variety of weapons and power-ups to help you confront the fearsome EMMI and other enemies. But which one is the best?
Here, we take a look at the top weapons to collect on Planet ZDR, with details explaining how they work. These are the best weapons in Metroid Dread.
Most of the game’s best weapons come at a later stage, which makes sense given the evolution of the Metroidvania formula. When you get to the Ferenia section of Awe, you’ll meet Wave Beam, and it’s well worth picking up. It deals high damage and replaces Y attack without having to charge it up. The main reason to use Wave Beam is that it allows you to shoot enemies through certain walls and terrain, which is often very useful.
Out of all the weapons on this list, the Screw Attack is unique. Technically, it is not a weapon, but a maneuver that allows Samus to strike enemies with his body. This makes Samus a weapon, which is really cool. Screw Attack allows you to continuously flip through the air, destroying everything (or nearly everything) in your path. You can even use Screw Attack to break certain blocks. It’s a satisfying weapon that deserves a spot on this list due to its versatility.
The Storm Missile is an interesting weapon that allows Samus to lock down 5 enemies at once, making it an effective means of wiping out opponents quickly. When facing stronger enemies, you can actually “lock down” them up to five times, dealing devastating damage in a short amount of time. Or you can use it in some two-on-one Chozo battles. To use it, hold NS and use the laser to align your five photos. Then press Y Burn.
The Ice Missile eventually becomes your main missile attack, and it’s a great choice because it freezes enemies in place – most of them do, anyway. While this deals a high amount of damage, it is also a practical weapon that makes it easy to get through multiple waves of enemies. It is a cool Weapons, for sure.
Finally, let’s finish with one of the most famous attacks in the series, the Power Bomb. This weapon not only looks great in action but is also very useful. That’s because it wipes out most of the enemies in your vicinity while revealing any nearby blocks. To use it, hold NS when in Morph Ball form and when it flashes, use Y to explode, resulting in a massive explosion that wiped out almost everything in its path.
