One of the original great content updates for Division 2 has added a new expertise to the looter shooter. Dubbed the Gunner, the fourth specialty allows you to wield a powerful shotgun, the Riot Foam grenade, and use the disorienting Banshee item. Here’s how to unlock and use the Gunner specialty.
How to unlock Gunner
Since expertise is over game classes, you will not be able to view or access Gunner expertise if you have not completed the campaign.
More bad news: Gunner unlocking isn’t a quick process – at all. To use your expertise, you need to complete the five phases of Field Research. Each stage has loads of challenges, and many of them are time consuming and tedious.
You can check the Field Study requirements by clicking Triangle / Y on Gunner while on the Specialty bench (located in the White House). Only Stage 1 goals will be listed until they are completed.
In Stage 1, you’ll need to shock Roach twice before killing him at Bank Headquarters, capturing all Downtown West control points with a Sharpshooter, killing 20 enemies with a mounted gun in the Grand Washington Hotel and completed five public fair execution operations only marksman rifle.
So if you’re holding onto points, that means you have to replay the two main quests (at least once) and a bunch of side activities – just to get past Stage 1.
Stage 2 requires you to capture every checkpoint in the Southwest while the survival jet is active, burning Lieutenant Kennedy three times before killing him at normal or harder difficulty, destroying the following enemy When trapping them in foam and completing five propaganda missions use only shotguns.
For Stage 3, you have four other quests. First, breaking Sgt. Wade’s helmet before killing him in normal or harder mode, occupying all control points in the Downtown East and Federal Triangle using Demolitionist expertise, defeating confused enemies and performing five resource transport operations with SMG only.
Stage 4 is like the rest. Start by defeating General Ridgeway without using armor in normal or harder mode, taking down five enemies with heavy weapons in the open world, destroying the enemy after marking them with Pulse and defeat five territorial control operations with just one assault rifle.
Four more missions await in the fifth and final phase. You need to break all Basilisk’s armor before killing him in normal or harder mode, use the mounted weapon to destroy the enemy in Roosevelt Island Stronghold, complete the actions at the checkpoint with just an LMG, and ultimately destroy enemies in the open world with mounted weapons.
1st year card holders have instant access
You can completely skip the unlocking process by buying year 1 tickets for $ 40. If you own a Year 1 pass, completing Field Research will unlock exclusive cosmetic rewards.
Year 1 card gives you seven days early access to three DLC episodes (the first ones are reduced later this summer), eight exclusively graded workouts, other exclusive features and yes, access Instant access to new majors. Considering ADC is only the first of the three unlockable specialties, you may have to ponder even more if you fail Year 1.
ADC: The basics
The Gunners specialty grants agents access to a unique new weapon: the Minigun. Similar to the high-powered guns that green / yellow large enemies carry Division 2Minigun turns your agent into a tank capable of destroying groups of enemies in a hurry. It is also an ideal weapon for taking down bosses from close range.
After unlocking the Gunner, you’ll have three skill points that can be applied to its unique skill tree in the expertise menu. That’s enough to unlock the layer-specific grenade, the Riot Foam. These grenades rise around enemies, preventing them from moving and using their weapons for a short period of time.
Gunner expertise also comes with a new unlockable item, Banshee. Banshee sends an arc of pulse energy to enemies that will confuse them regardless of whether they are in hiding or not. Two additional mods can increase Banshee’s range and its lifespan.
Like the other three specialties, Gunner also has an array of talents that can be unlocked to do things like increase weapon damage, create ammo, and increase fire rate. When you play as an marksman class, you earn points for use in the skill tree.
