Ubisoft recently announced that Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake transferred the dev team from Ubisoft Mumbai to Ubisoft Montreal. After contacting the company about why the switch took place, Ubisoft confirmed to Digital Trends that it is no longer targeting the previously announced fiscal 2023 release date.
“Development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will now be led by Ubisoft Montreal,” Ubisoft told Digital Trends in a statement. “We are proud of the work of Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their learning as the new team will continue the work to deliver a great remake. As a result, we are no longer targeting fiscal year 23 (Fiscal Year 2023). Players will be updated on the project as development progresses.”
Remember that fiscal year 2023 ends in March 2023, which means Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake could still launch in 2023. Though if it does, it won’t arrive until April 2023 at the earliest.
The statement comes after two consecutive delays in the game’s previously revealed launch windows following the first trailer in 2020. The game was subsequently delayed indefinitely and is currently on. completely changed development teams, so it’s no surprise that Ubisoft didn’t target the original release.
While we still don’t have an official release date for the awaited remake, at least we know that it still has a long way to go. As Ubisoft states, it will update fans on the status of the game as development progresses.
