Xbox Series X/S was the best-selling console platform in the US in June, based on dollar sales tracked by the NPD and reported by VentureBeat. Last month was Xbox’s most successful June ever, breaking the previous dollar sales record set in 2011. Many are speculating that the sales spike was due to the performance. Microsoft’s strong performance at E3 2021.
Gaming hardware has seen a significant increase in sales over the past year, with a 112% increase on Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. Despite the surge in COVID vaccines -19 allows for a return to the normal version, and with a lot of hardware shortages due to manufacturing issues, console sales continue to grow very well.
During the first half of 2021, the Nintendo Switch was the best-selling device overall both in terms of sales and in dollar terms, and it remained the best-selling device in June. PlayStation 5 was the console platform that sold units. fastest in history in 8 months on the market.
The Switch was the best-selling console in both volume and dollar sales in May until its reign was toppled by Series X/S. It’s still unclear if Series X/S can continue beyond that. this presentation or not, especially as component shortages still occur and Nintendo’s hugely well-received E3 presentation pops in the background.
Xbox also had an impressive E3 launch this year, introducing players to big-name games like Halo Infinite, Redfalland Starfield. Microsoft recently announced that the Xbox Cloud Gaming service is powered by custom Xbox Series X hardware, extending the console’s influence to the world of cloud gaming and streaming.
It remains to be seen whether all these glossy announcements will be enough to boost Xbox Series X/S sales in the long term.
